Oh dear! what a shame, poor old Harry, the lady was not impressed by the sounds of it. never mind I’m sure there will be a lady that will appreciate your charms soon xThank you all for your encouragement and support.
Sadly it would seem that Ruby did not pick up on the friendly vibes being sent her way.
It was all over in less than 5 minutes.
It went well for the first minute or two, but then Harry tried to show Ruby how awesome he was, by doing a little rumble strut.
Ruby made it clear she wasn't interested in his manly strutting, and Harry (who can be a bit obtuse to be honest) kept prancing around in a ridiculous way.
It was at this point that Ruby tried to eat his face.
So we quickly split the bonding pen in half, as we had just stripped out both of their cages to give them a deep clean in preparation for them to go back together into one huge cage.
But Harry (did I mention he is a bit obtuse) hadn't got the hint at all, and continued to prance up and down the diving grids, rumble strutting and trying to attract Ruby's attention.
Ruby was now seriously furious with Harry, and proceeded to try and remove his face again through the grids.
So I covered the grids in what we refer to as the 'Wall of Shame' which is a cardboard divider so that they couldn't actually see each other anymore.
And Harry still kept rumble strutting and trying to chew his way through the cardboard to tell Ruby all about how awesome he was and how thrilled he was to have met her in person for a brief few minutes.
By this point Ruby was apoplectic with rage, fully puffed up, teeth chattering and shrieking.
So 8 minutes into the bonding Ruby ended up in the washing basket in another room, while Harry continued to prance around his half of the bonding pen, deeply confused as to where his love interest had gone.
Both pigs are back in their respective cages, and after 24 hours with a solid barrier between them, tonight we have removed half so they can slowly start to get used to each other again (through the bars).
Harry is either laying by the shared grid or hurling himself at it, and Ruby occasionally walks past the shared grid and shrieks in his direction.
I have now concluded that they will most certainly not be living together any time soon (or indeed ever).
