Hiya, just a quick one, my 5 guinea pigs are being treated for ringworm and I just wondered has anyone experienced such severe furloss with their guinea pigs?
In the 10 years I've had piggies I've never dealt with ringworm.

She's on intrafungol from the vets and i gave her topical ivermectin cos mites were happening too.

All this fur loss has happened today which is day 7 of treatment out of 28.

I dont know whether this is part of the course. Please advise!

Hi and welcome

Please see a vet for a hands-on examination. Non-typical hair loss can have many different causes. If you have newly bought piggies please take a picture with you and with a dated piece of paper in the picture or a dated video with you, your piggy and a piece of paper with the date in it as proof for reclaiming any vet fees from the pet shop.

That doesn't look like a ringworm patch to me; it doesn't have any sign of the characteristic fungal exudate crust nor the dark pink ring around the edge that has given ringworm its name and which would be noticeable on light skin. The hair loss pattern is also all wrong.
Ringworm pictures of how a patch develops during an outbreak are shown in the last chapter of this guide here:

Have you checked the underlayer of the coat for tiny dark dots glued to the hairs? (hay mites)

Barbering or self-barbering means that you can feel a bit of a stubble on the skin. It can have quite a number of causes, from social barbering by another piggy to self-barbering because of discomfort in or just below the skin and more.
