Good to hear that Riff coped with the anesthetic well. That's half the battle. Fingers crossed he continues to recover well xx

Yes, that's great news Lucinda, but we know you won't rest until you know he's ok, so let's hope he continues to improve x

Thank you all so much.

Riff is now home and safe. They were delighted with progress at the vets and Riff is doing everything right (eating, drinking, lav etc).

The stone..... it was the size of a baked bean.

My poor poor darling Riffit.

Riff had an xray this morning and there are at least two bladder stones present. We have booked in for surgery tomorrow morning.

I am terrified. I was hoping I would be celebrating tomorrow and now this has happened. Please send your love and support to Riff, my best friend.

I really hope your guinea pulls out brilliantly my prayers will be hoping for a full recovery!

so glad he is eating and doing all the right things! You must be relieved!

Glad to hear Riff is home again Lucinda, give him a chin scratch from me and the gang.:)

Riff has had a snoozy afternoon and eaten some cereal, grass and veggies.

I wondered about the stones. When I first I had Riff I was living in Bath, where the water is very very limey. Basins etc are silted up in days. Could this have started the problem? Riff lived in Bath from Feb 2005- June 2007 when we came back to Cornwall. Any thoughts?

No idea about the lime in the water ..... just wanted to say glad he is home and doing well, bless him :<>

You were in my neck of the woods then Lucinda :) although I was born and bred in London, I now live in between Bristol and Bath.

I have had a few piggies with bladder stones. Some of these did come to me all from the same woman who said she fed them on dry mix for goats :{.

It would be interesting to know how many members have had this problem and also whereabouts they live.
If more problems came from an area of a the country that had limey water, then perhaps it would be best to boil and then cool the tap water before giving it to the piggies.

Hey, I have always done that for my daughters! :))

Yes I moved to Bath from Cornwall in 1997 and was there ten years. Came back to Cornwall last year. Where abouts are you?

Riff has had meds now and doing very well!
