Glad Ricky is doing so well :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Hopefully, this will be it for a long time! I looked into pet insurance for my 8 guineas and the cheapest was £800 a year-madness :o

Oh my Gosh! That's a lot of money! Next time I go back to the vet, I'm going to check. He goes again next week. His cut closes up so fast. She opened it yesterday to get the pus out. It keeps filling up. I cleaned it last night and today it's all dried up again. I don't know why. Now it's going to have to be cleaned out again! I sware, this better be Ricky's last lump. I have not had any time to actually enjoy him! He has not been well since the day I got him. I know he will be, but I contstantly have to be careful because of his wound. I can't wait to take him out and find a spot where he can run around a little! He's probably sick of his cage. I do take him out, but just to carry him around. I'm not sure where I can put him. We are at my mothers house and upstairs is like a museum. No one enters her living room without permission! And downstairs are the cats, who I don't know how they would react. I actually bought Ricky down here once and sat on the couch and both cats didn't seem impressed at all. So maybe that's good. Do any of you bring your piggies outside? Now it's too cold here, but in the warmer weather, I wondered if he could go out. I went to the pet store recently and they sell guinea pig harnesses with an attached leash. I can take Ricky for a walk. My husband said, don't even think about it. That's sick, he said. But the picture on the package shows the guinea pig with a harness on and a leash. I really can't make this stuff up! Anyway, I'm going to send you a PM Lavenderjade. That's if I can figure out how! Have a Happy Valentines Day everyone! It's a really huge day here in America (as they like to make everything a big commerical holiday here! - anything for money!)

I wouldnt use one of those harness things, I have no idea why they sell them :(
He can go in the garden if you have one in a secure run? They love being outside on grass in mild weather :)

i had one for xavier then read about how they can damage the backs of guinea pigs... so didnt use it.

i have 2 runs for my boys...one which is like a cage whcih is kinda small but nice and little, then a 4 x 3 ft run i got from a guinea pig rescue thing, my boys go outside most nights, unless we've got a frost going on or rain. but they love it, they come in get a cuddle while warming their tummies on a hot water bottle then go back in their cage. my cat was just curious about the boys and of xavier, wouldnt hurt them though- well he wont if he knows whats good for him! lol

i dunno how much pet insurance is here will look in to it and get back to you though.

Hi Annie,
Poor little Ricky, he's been through the wars! Fingers crossed he is on the mend, he sounds like a fiesty little fella!

Let us know how he's getting on,

Hugs from me and the pigs
xx

PS where are you in the States? my best mate lives in Syracuse!

hoping little ricky is doing well, sending hugs and cuddles to you and ricky. please let us know how he is going, i have some relatives in the states-angel camp califorinia. where ever that is, i have heard of california but not angel camp. hoping ricky is back to his normal self soon. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Never heard of angel camp! Sorry Katiep, it took me a while to check my responses! I live in Long Island, New York. My town is called North Babylon. It's about 50 miles south east of New York City. It nice, but has gotten so expensive to live here. And it's no different from most towns in New York. It's just a really expensive place to live! One day I'll figure out why. I'm hoping one day to move to Pennsylvania with my husband and daughter (she's 8). I love it there and always wanted to live there. I've lived here most of my life and need a change! (although I lived so many other places) Thanks for the harness advice. I won't buy one for Ricky. I forget it's warm where some of you live now! It's freezing here so I won't be bringing him out for quite awhile! Ricky is doing well now. He should have his last checkup this week coming up. Poor thing has been through enough! This last wound is amost healed up. I'm hoping the vet takes his bandage off his leg. Even if he scratches his cut, it's just about healed so it should be ok. He's had that bandage on for almost two months! (she has repeatedly changed it though). But his leg has gotten irritated from it. She puts a cream on it and changes the bandage. Without the bandage, he just keeps scratching where she operated, so it needs to be on. He was not a cooperative patient! I'm praying it comes off next visit (Tuesday). You can see how much he hates it. But physically, he is doing wonderful. He seems so happy. I hope this is it. Those last two abscesses were bad. And he's still a baby. I want to see him enjoying his life! Everyone cross their fingers that this is the last one!

This is just wonderful news love :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: Good little Ricky :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
even if he wasn't quite the model patient ::) ::) ::)

Can't wait to hear more about this little guys in the coming months and years :) :) :) :)

so glad your little grumble bum ricky is doing well! :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: was just kidding about the grumble bum part! he has been a very good boy and very patient with all the little fella has been through. he must be a lot like zoe who is very laid back! infact not once did we see zoe go for her surgery wound, though about week two we did see her stratching it on the hay. know how that feels when a surgery wound gets itchy! sending hugs and cuddles to you and ricky and hoping ricky can now start to enjoy life. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: and you have done a wonderful job with him! :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: good luck ricky boy!
