hi,could anyone please recommend a good book for first time guinea pig owners,we've just taken in 2 piggies that have been in a local primary school for the last couple years & although we've already sourced a lot of information from the web & the local rescue centre we'd just like something to browse through at home.
many thanks

Any piggie books by Peter Gurney are going to make good reading as he is regarded as an authority on the care of guinea pigs. :tu: Also;

Training Your Pet Guinea Pig by Gerry Bucsis and Barbara Somerville (click training, care, feeding etc.. and how to build a C and C cage)
The Guinea Pig Handbook by Sharon L. Vanderlip
Mini Encyclopaedia of Guinea Pigs; Breeds and Care by Myra Mahoney

all available from Amazon - probably! :D

thats great,thanks!

Sadly with the recent huge changes, most literature has become somewhat obsolete. We try to keep our information threads at the top of our various Care sections updated as much as possible.

I have 'the proper care of guinea pigs' and 'piggy potions' both by Peter gurney. Some of the info is slightly outdated, ie it was written before pellets were readily available so he talks about mueslis etc but In general has some very good tips. I got both books from Amazon really cheap x

Welcome to the forum! :D To be honest, I think you will find all the information you will need on this forum. It is up to date and there's always people to ask if you want anything clarified/ aren't sure about anything. Lisaali has posted lots of good links which are defo worth a read :D
