Junior Guinea Pig
Hi does anyone know any good breeders of piggies in the north west of englandxx
Oh ok my mum is agaist letting me adopt because she doesnt think that the shelters provide good infomation about the pigs and they don't tell you about previous owners ect i would love to adopt but i don't think it would be an option for me because of thisxxAs the forum is pro rescue it is unlikely breeders would be mentioned. However I am sure other members can recommend rescues in your area.
Ill try and convince her to read the forum and ill try to ask her to take me and visit some sheltersAs we have all said all rehoming/rescue places on here have amazing back ground info for all pets x
Ok ill get her to read this thread how do use the rescue finder thing on hereI agree, to be honest a lot of breeders I've met have incorrect information and usually just want to get rid of their "stock". You can't always guarantee they're sexed correctly either.
A good rescue/shelter will be able to help you![]()
Ok thanksxxxGo to the menu bar and go to the "rescue locator" option, you should be able to put in where you live on there and it will show you the recommended rescues close to you
If there aren't many close by, you could also look online to see if there are others but I would go with your mum to check them out and make sure they're all ship shape before you make any decisionsx
The nearest one to me is well over an hour do you know any websites i could look on?No problem, always glad to helpx
Will doxxBest thing to do is just check google for you nearest ones, if you find some you can always ask for reviews on here if anyone has used them before/know of them.
I don't know if anyone else from Manchester can help?
Ok will try and reacue one if I'm allowed to i have 3 months to convince my mum its a good thingxWhat you need to remember is that a breeder is selling guinea pigs solely to make money.
They will often tell you what you want to hear just to sell you a pig.
They have a vested interest in selling you any pig they can.
Just because they breed lots of guinea pigs does not make them an expert on guinea pig care or welfare.
Once you have bought the pig and they have your money, they usually have no further interest in what happens to the guinea pig.
A rescue is not trying to make money - they are trying to save lives.
They want you to be happy with the pigs you choose because then they have succeeded.
They have a vested interest in selling you a healthy pig who will make a wonderful pet.
They deal with guinea pigs of all ages and in all states of heath, so are incredibly knowledgeable about all aspects of guinea pig care.
They wan the guinea pig that you choose to have a long and happy life with you so will offer follow up advice and support.
Like I said in the other thread, unless you are dealing with a fully licensed breeder who has to undergo yearly checks by the local authority (which does not actually exist in the UK), and who offers a full open door policy, then you have no idea of the sort of person you re buying from.
Will doxYou may want to look at this section of the forum too ...

Its over an hour away but it might be an optionI think Milhaven Rescue is within driving distance of you, they are wonderful there & often have young piggies born in the rescue, so you don't need to worry about their history![]()
It looks great it is an hour and a half away how many times do you need to visit any shelter before you could bring them home.Cavy Corner in Doncster is an excellent Rescue. They do home checks and give a Guinea Care Class before their piggies can be adopted out.

Ok will doI agree Cavy Corner is a great rescue. If I were you, I'd have a chat with your Mum as you would need to travel to Doncaster at least once if you adopt from here .
Oh thanks will have a look@BubblesPiggies There is RSPCA Manchester and Salford branch. Also Tameside rabbit and guinea pig rescue. They are both not far from you and I have adopted from both.
