Hello everyone!
My boys had a fight when living together, this is a good while ago.
Well I'm thinking of trying again and bonding them now they're over their teenage years, their cages are side by side and they are very intrigued by each other. I do believe the reason they fought is the cage they were together in wasn't the most spacious for two boars at the time. I've bought a new c&c cage which it's on its way and two dividers in case of emergency for the middle.

Please could I have some tips and advice on successfully bonding them again?
I'd love for them to be together! :(

Many thanks
Chloe

Here are our detailed, step-by-step bonding guides. Please take the time to read them, so you know exactly what to look out for and can react accordingly.
Illustrated Bonding / Dominance Behaviours And Dynamics
Boars: Bullying, Fighting, Fall-outs And What Next?

Please brace yourself that your boys may prefer to have their own territory each although they may get on happily through the bars as what we call a "can't live together but can't live apart" bonded pair; if there have been serious bites, they will most likely never go back together again.

I would NOT recommend to use the much touted buddy bath technique.
It is helpful for washing the excess testosterone from hormone laden pee spraying out of a coat when you have split fighting boars short of a full-on fight and are trying to re-introduce them after a cooling down period, but otherwise our long term forum experience has shown that it is not contributing to the ultimate success in a bonding, whatever the gender or gender combination. After a long split or in any new bonding it is just an added stress factor that delays the onset of the bonding protocol, nothing more, and it becomes totally irrelevant once they get into the bonding dynamics which decide whether they can form a functional group or not. ;)

Good luck! Feel blessed if it works out, but try not be disappointed if doesn't.

Ahh thank you. All this is so good to know,
They've been together before on floor time since j moved into my new flat and they weren't particularly aggressive just doing the rumble strutting and humping behaviour? I'm hopeful they'll get along but I'm prepared if they don't!

Many thanks!

No, but since its apparently "painful" to have water on their feet, they are distracted.

Good luck with the rebonding, I want to rebond my two as well as they seem to show signs of wanting to be together again. Looking forward to hearing how it turns out!

On an unrelated note, your little black piggy is like a twin of my Angus :D

My two boys Jon Snow and Podrick Payne had a huge fight when they were younger. Pod has a scar on his lip as proof.

They've been back together for well over 2 years now withour problem.

Good luck!

Love the names! How did you do it? Glad it was successful for you xx

My boyfriend named them both. He was going to call Jon Ghost at first as he's white with pink eyes but thought he looked more like a Jon.

I cleared out a big space downstairs where they hadn't really been before to give them lots of space. I gave them a big hay pile and two of everything.

I don't really bother with bonding/buddy baths as I prefer to let them smell like themselves and deal with any issues, rather than masking it for a few days and then possibly have problems occur.

As I wasn't sure at all about it, and from Podrick getting quite a nasty bite on his mouth I decided to dedicate all weekend to it and started the bond on Friday evening after work. Then if I had to I could stay with them downstairs until I was happy to move them into their cage.

I made sure the cage was extra clean and made sure the beds and hides were all different so they didn't have anything they recognised.

So did you wait until they were happy and bonded until you moved them into a cage together? See I have bought them new everything for the bonding process! New cage, new fleece new toys!
Fingers crossed

I waited until I was happy with their progress. I think a bond can take a while to truly form. But if they've been together for a good few hours and there hasn't been any fights then it's safe to move them to their cage.
I think I started at about 6pm and moved them to the cage at about 9pm. Then I had plenty of time to stay with them and intervene if I had to.
