Preparing to say goodbye

@Wiebke Thank you for your concern - we certainly wouldn't advertise him online on any sites, I only asked on here because of the fan club he seemed to attract, bless his heart!

I am in no rush, I just want him to be happy and I think right now that means being where he knows, with the people he tolerates...!

Sorry, I just realised how insensitive that may come across, talking about regaining Keith.

I am absolutely in bits and trying so hard to be strong and put a brave face on it. Gibson was a good age and was a happy piggie, and he has left an enormous hole. The only comfort I am getting is thinking of him with Higgins.

Keith is tucking into his dinner now, that’s made me burst into tears, the first dinner with just one face waiting for me..

❤️‍🩹

Sending you a hug 🤗. It’s a shock when two become one. You are not being insensitive.

I’m so sorry for your loss.
Run free Gibson.

It’s difficult when you go and one cute face isn’t admonishing you for being late with dinner. Or even just coming to see what’s happening. Take good care of yourself. Just remember you did the very best for him and he felt loved until the very end 💕

Its heartbreaking having to say goodbye to a much loved piggy, they leave a large piggy-shaped hole in your life and in your heart. It may not be much of a consolation right now, but to have him in your loving arms as he makes his journey to the bridge is the best way a piggy could wish for. Keep happy memories in your heart and he will never be far away. Journey in peace Gibson and be with your friend 🌈

If I lived nearer I would love my girls to meet him when the time is right but keep him close as you grieve

So sorry you lost Gibson, but I’m glad you had that time to cuddle before he left to find Highins, sending hugs x
Sleep tight little men Gibson and Higgins 🌈

Thank you all for the continued support. The tears today are coming at odd times but heavily and my heart hurts.

Cuddling Keith as much as he’ll let me so he knows he’s not alone x

I’m so sorry you have lost Gibson - popcorn free at RB Gibson -
It is special to hold a piggy as they travel to rainbow bridge.
You know what a wonderful life he had and he was so loved.
I’m glad you are keeping Keith , you have so much care and love for him , good luck in finding him a friend.
Take care of yourself and your family

Thank you ❤️

I think (hope) we are changing plans and keeping our boy Keith with us, so now looking for a new boy to join our family 🤞🏻
Hi

That is lovely! I hope that your two new boys will bring you lots of joy. You can discuss whether an adult boar may be worth trying with Keith so you do not have to go through the whole see-saw again. Rescues are generally practical when you are upfront about looking for company for an end-of-the-line piggy.

Try Little Wheekers Rescue in Bristol as your likely closest good dating rescue. The Blue Cross in Burford does not offer piggy dating anymore and has a strict charity-wide boar neutering policy, the same as the RSPCA.
Here is our list of carefully vetted recommended good welfare standard rescues: Guinea-pig-forum-recommended-rescues

little Wheekers are brilliant! They offered to bond my Ted and find him a new friend when we lost Bill. Because of Ted’s dental issues and lock down (travel) we managed to find two young sows from a local rescue in Cornwall, Ginger and Posh.
Don’t be disheartened at their website because they don’t usually show single boars on their adoption pages but usually they do have them, that’s the same with the Bristol Rabbit Rescue too x

Just email them and tell them you have a bereaved boar looking for a new friend, that’s the best way

Thank you, both - I’ve commented on a post on here from Bristol Rabbit Rescue, and Blue Cross in Southampton have a lone boar though it does say he’s looking for a wife or two..

It’s not 100% yet but I don’t think either of us can face losing Keith x

Sleep tight Gibson and enjoy the Rainbow Bridge with Higgins.
Sorry for your loss, my Zeb also went over the rainbow bridge on Friday (8th April 2022). The only consoling factor is that he’s gone to join his brother Jed ❤️🌈
