Post surgery pain relief

Hi there. My little 7 year old piggy had surgery today for a burst cyst. He's doing great, they just cleaned it up and stitched him. He's just come home with metacam. They said to me when I collected him to give him 0.9ml once a day starting tonight. When I've checked the sticker it says twice a day! Does this sound like a once or twice a day dose please? Trust this to happen on a long bank holiday weekend. I will ring the emergency vet if I have to but it's a 0.5mg/ml liquid. He's quite a big pig, about 1.2kg if that's helpful with a very large stature. Thank you.

I would defo phone the emergency vet for confirmation, however the 0.5mg/ml seems like the cat metacam so it's not as strong as the dog version which I think is 1.5mg/ml off the top of my head, which I have given 0.4ml twice a day of previously post surgery.

I'm not intelligent enough to work out what the conversion rate is (sorry!)

Hope you get through to the emergency vet for dose info and that recovery goes well x

This is cat strength metacam, which equates to 0.3 ml of dog strength metacam. It sounds reasonable to me for a medium range dosage for a larger post-op piggy. It is perfectly safe to give twice a day but if you have concerns, please give the clinic a call tomorrow morning.
