Possible Tooth Abscess?

I'm absolutely heartbroken. My little Florrie passed away at about 7:30am this morning. I had been in and out throughout the night to check on her and she was very weak. I was hoping she would make it until I would be able to get her an emergency appointment somewhere.

I just can't believe it. She was such a happy, cheeky piggy and it was just last week that I noticed the abscess. I wish I had been able to get her up to Northampton and maybe the outcome would have been different. She meant everything to me and she and Inca were inseparable. It will never be the same without her. She had a happy few years with me after coming from the 285 pig rescue, it is just such a shame and so sad that she couldn't be with us for longer. I love you so much Florrie Fruitcake. You will be missed greatly.

Thank you all for your help and support, it has meant a lot to me.

Here are a few photos of her:

Sleep tight Florrie x

I am so sorry :( You did your best & these things come on so very quickly that even getting help straight away doesn't always change the outcome sadly. She had a good life with you;please take comfort from that xx

Poor girl. :( Such beautiful pictures. I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost one of my pigs the same way... she had an abscess, had surgery to lance and drain it, never bounced back from the surgery and never resumed eating on her own. As far as the vet could tell, she had osteomyelitis (infection of the bone marrow) in her jawbone and probably developed septicemia (blood infection.) The process from first noticing the lump to her passing away was a little under two weeks, so I know how fast these things can progress. Sometimes, in spite of all we try and all we do, their little bodies just can't fight back enough. Again, I'm so sorry... I really feel for her and for you because her story is so much like my Frenzy's story.

@Freela
Thank you. I'm so sorry you lost Frenzy. Life can be so cruel sometimes. I hope Florrie knows how much her Mummy loved her and I hope she's enjoying playing with Frisky, Bingo and all the other piggies over rainbow bridge.

You're so right, it's just not fair. It's heartbreaking to lose a pet you love in spite of how much you tried to help them... especially if it seems like they haven't had a full life (I'm not sure how old Florrie was, but Frenzy was only 18 months or so when she passed.) However, I do know that both Frenzy and Florrie knew they were loved, that we made the time they had as wonderful as it possibly could be, and that they are now somewhere beyond any kind of pain or discomfort. ((HUGS)) again!

Oh I am so sorry to hear this. Poor Floorie; she was luck to have such a caring and devoted mum as you. Sleep tight, little one. Gentle pig kisses from my boys xx.
