Possible Euthanasia

It’s good that she is still trying. It is really important though that you get as much food into her as possible.
Some supermarkets should be open tomorrow, I don’t know if the pharmacists there would stock syringes but if you are able it would definitely be worth trying.

If she seems to be going for smaller food items then it may work to use a vegetable peeler on a carrot or cucumber to get very thin slithers that she can more easily eat.
Shes not even interested in carrots anymore which is so bizarre because if any food is a treat or not supposed to be given often she absolutely destroys it and its gone in an instant.

Shes super cold to the touch too so I'm aware shes not got long left plus shes all wrapped up in my blanket at the moment 🥲
Her weight is dropping a lot too and I am so close to ringing an emergency vet but I physically dont have the money to go.

I'm so sorry she's so poorly 😢 Just have a nice cuddle with her and tell her how much you love her ❤️
I have been don’t you worry! ❤️ the other day i sobbed and i held her and she licked my tears which was oddly disgusting but also cute? She’s definitely getting cuddled during the fireworks!

Do you have any pain relief to keep her comfortable? I would be doing the same, just cuddles and comfort ❤️

I haven’t no ☹️ I found some metacam that expired in october which was so annoying! although I would've been uncomfortable giving her some without a proper dosage. For now.. cuddles and ‘kicking’ (lifting the hidey up so the other pig runs off) her cagemate out of her favourite hidey it is!

we have two of her favourite ones.. she just likes the one closest to my bed!

How is she today x
Hi,

Shes very curious in everything today regarding food, if its yours or hers or if anything rustles shes instantly intrigued. She drank a lot this morning and is still her usual cheeky self with getting her way when she wants to be comfy.

Shes not been very active, has been sat in the open by the front of the cage just sleeping. Shes been struggling to eat/refusing to eat pretty much everything except my food! (she obviously didnt eat it but she tried.. multiple times as i was sat with her trying to get her to eat)

I offered her carrots, in chunks and in strips same with cucumber and some lettuce which she barely touched. She ate a small amount of lettuce and a bite of cucumber that was it. Pumpkin usually is a big eater, she rushes to eat her food and eats anything leftover from her friend, pebbles. Although she hadn’t been doing that at all recently just ate hay.

If we ignore the not eating, her breathing has calmed its self a bit shes a bit better with that and she looks well in herself! It’s just frustrating she wants to eat but can’t/doesn’t and with what little shes eating it’s concerning. Pumpkin has never liked critical care - she got given it once from the vet when she had gut stasis a few years ago. She did not like it at all, essentially spat it out. She didn’t like the homemade one either yesterday ☹️
Also she keeps being bloated even after eating a small amount of food which is super concerning.

A part of me is still hoping she’ll get better although I'm being too optimistic as its almost time i think.
thank you for asking me how she is though! x

This pig is so confusing, one minute she wasnt eating the next shes eating nothing but cherry tomatoes! honestly ive given the two pigs too much food but ill take some out and save it for tomorrow. I dont understand? Why tomatoes? We had lettuce, cucumber and carrots which were peeled into strips and the cucumber cut into small pieces.

ive taken many videos of her just eating the tomatoes and the way she avoids everything else shes offered - i will speed them up, edit them slightly and reply with a youtube link. I literally don't understand what to do from here.

I don't know if it's the same for piggies but I was advised that tomato was good for when my babies were teething as it acts like a mild analgesic?

Truthfully i have no idea ai was told it was always too acidic and to be given every other day or week?

She proper snatched that tomato didn't she! 😍
Honestly if she'll eat it, I'd just give it to her - it's better for her to eat something than nothing.
She looks quite perky in that video! You can see she's interested in food but won't actually take it... you have more than likely already mentioned this but is she on any pain relief?
Perhaps try some completely new foods. Blueberries have been a big hit here, and herbs are good as they have a strong smell to entice piggies to eat.
Good old grass might be worth a try too as its naturally in tiny little blades!

Right? shes got a bit of life back in her! she isn't a massive fan of fruit actually but i will pop to the shops and see if she will, even if they're mushy! We also don’t have any tomatoes left she ate the last two!

She isn't on any pain relief the vets we saw middle of December said she had a good quality life and was pain-free but shes been on a rollercoaster down since. Which the only thing I'm super concerned about is the not eating much and being super super keen to eat but isn’t. She ate when she was super bloated and her stomach was hard and her poops were clumpy. (She is eating hay and currently destroying a hay tunnel which is right next to my bed! this will be a fun night…)

I will get some blueberries and possibly more tomatoes - anything else recommended will be good! We (meaning me and pigs) aren’t struck on fruit too much so hopefully she eats the blueberries! She had demolished a handful of grass yesterday so I may have to give her some more in the morning as she did love it.

But no to pain relief!

It sounds like she is making progress, that's great!
It may be worth a chat with the vet seeing a things have changed slightly to see if they would recommend a course of pain relief, just to see if it makes a difference for her 👍

Right? I have friends online who have been giving me advice as well and I am almost certain if they had told me what they said when the vets were opened I'm 90% sure she wouldn’t have made it.

Honestly it is breaking my heart a bit how eager she is to eat and just isn’t eating ☹️

I am trying to get a vet appointment for friday as I am pretty much free all day until I have physio - hopefully I can get one even if its just for pain relief!

An update on miss Pumpkin

She was in the same place as she was last night, all cozy in a hidey which I was please about. When i brought their food and squashed the lettuce to make a crunch sound she LAUNCHED out of her hidey and directly over to me where she proceeded to try and eat my phone & phone case. 😆
When I tell you this pig looked like she was about to explode she was so eager and excited to eat food. I put the lettuce down, shes still practically shaking and doesn't eat it, but sniffs it. I put all the cucumber down and the peeled parts of it down and she went for the peeled parts. I did the same with the carrot and she was interested in the carrots thank god (I know they can’t have it all the time but I am trying 😬)

She ate the cucumber rind slices, small amounts of carrot slices and a little leafy piece of lettuce!

Not huge amounts but it is progress! I am going to weigh her when I get home.. last time (two days ago) she weighed around 895g? This is low for her.. she’s usually 950+ borderline 1kg.

Will keep you updated! She’s definitely full of life just not eating much - no idea where she’s getting the energy from!

Anyways, enjoy this blurry photo of her that I got when she was eager to eat.

I would weigh her everyday at the same time, record weigh and look for a trend. If she is losing weight then there must be something bothering her. If it’s stable then keep on weighing her and see how things go. A vet check and some pain relief may help. Hay is main source of food, is her hay intake the same as usual?

Yep! i weighed her two days ago, didnt yesterday but will now.. she was 885g the other day and 880g today. Hay intake is pretty good id say it did decline a bit but shes eating more hay than anything.

Update on pumpkin - Shes eating cucumber and the darkest green parts of lettuce!

I mean considering she wasn’t eating at all this is a bonus! Plus shes a bit more cheeky now.. shes getting her personality back 😥🤭

Also - her tumour. I wasn’t playing around with it but i was feeling it. You can feel her heart beat so strongly on the back half of it - It is attached to something for sure despite the vet saying it wasn’t. Even if its some useless tissue its attached to. Regardless, it doesn’t explain why I can feel her pulse so strong towards the back of the tumour and can slightly feel it at the front.
