Poor Dennis is a bit grunty!

Jackie that vid of Dennis eating Mellon is FANTASTIC.
Made me smile and my 2 look around when they heard . . Thinking what's going on.
Florence little under weather but loved the noise . . Thank You. xx

How’s the grunt now.
Hope the yucky Baytril is doing it’s job.
Love Christian in the background demanding melon - I do hope he was given a piece too.
Dennis is such a cutie
Dennis's gruntiness is not every day now. I haven't heard it for a couple of days but it was back tonight. Christian did not get any melon as he has yummy Metacam and not yucky Baytril.

After 2 weeks of Baytril Dennis is still very grunty. There are a couple more doses left which I shall give him but to me he's not getting better. Somedays are better than others. Today he was quite grunty. He was on his Snugglesafe too. I'll see what he's like after the course has finished and I may have to take him back to the vet. Do I accept more Baytril (as it doesn't seem to have worked) or see if I can get another AB? If so what one? Sulfatrim?

My vet often gives us sulfatrim instead of baytril. She knows I’m not as keen and I find it’s much less harsh on my piggies tummies. Diego hated baytril when he had it for a mild uri but they don’t mind the sulfatrim as much and doesn’t seem to effect their appetite! Hope you’re little man gets better soon! :luv:

Dennis's weight was really down this morning after 2 weeks of Baytril (I am giving him Pro-C as well). He is still really grunty and not getting a lot better. He sits on his Snugglesafe and that seems to make his breathing sound better. I have started to syringe feed him. Atm it will be 3 times a day to see if that will encourage him to eat more. He has a few doses left then I'm back to the vet with him.

Poor Dennis, yucky Baytril obviously disagrees with him. I would ask to try a different antibiotic if the vet still thinks it is an infection rather than blockage or allergy.
If the heat pad warmth is helping, do you think steam or nebulising him might improve his condition?

Yeah when Diego had a mild uri my vet recommended nebulising in his carry case I take him to the vets in and partly drape a towel over it. She said just to make sure you don’t cover them up too much when they’re in there so they get enough oxygen in too! Hope he feels better soon

Sending healing vibes for Dennis. Hope he feels better soon.💕🐾

Sending you hugs and healing vibes for little Dennis. When Ted had that horrible chest infection Simon gave Ted Marbocyl Antibiotics. Firstly by injection, then tablets, he thought he had aspirated food in his sleep which can happen with dental piggies. It did the trick as Debbie was really worried about him for a few days until the drugs did their stuff x

Just come back from emergency appointment with Dennis. His breathing got so bad he was honking and hooting and really sounded like a Steam Train. Dennis saw the wonderful Alfonso who gave him a good going over. Dennis has been prescribed Sulfatrim 2ml twice daily and 0.2ml Metacam twice daily for 5 days initially and if his breathing isn't better then for 7 days. I am to keep up with the syringe feeds too. I have to leave a message for Alfonso in 5 days to let him know how Dennis is getting on. I've never had to do that before so Alfonso must be quite worried about him and it is a hefty dose of Sulfatrim too. When I mentioned the large dose of Sulfatrim, Alfonso said that it was at the top of scale of what Dennis could have for his weight but we needed to get on top of this URI he had.

Sorry to hear that Dennis has deteriorated, everything crossed for him here. Get well soon little one.🐾🤗
