Waiting for the vet to open to get an emergency appointment for my old boss lady Clover :(
She was fine on Sunday, a bit sleepy Monday morning but that's not unusual at her age, then last night she didnt go to her usual place for dinner, nibbled some veg but not much just took herself off into a corner and went to sleep, and she's not eating hay or using the water bottle and she's refusing to even try any syringe feed, 2 hoomans have tried with 2 different syringes and 2 different types of recovery food and a spoon and a bowl and recovery food as a topping on cucumber but... its a no to the recovery food :(
I was half wondering if she was going to leave us during the night, I gave her the usual loxicom and popped her back with her friends who are very worried- but we've survived until morning and tried nibble a bit of hay today so I'm now watching the minutes tick by til the vet opens at 8.30am...
Poor old thing she's been doing so well lately, but she is 6 years old, I hope she's not just shutting down and switching off and we can persuade her to pull through...

Sending lots healing vibes Clovers way. I hope you can get her in at the vets. Good luck.

We have an emergency appointment at 9.30am and we've managed to get her to take 1.5mls critical care and biolapis probiotic mix so we'll see. Her tummy seems quite swollen, not hard painful acute bloat but swollen...
Best get her packed up ready to travel- so glad our vet is only a mile away and really good with emergency piggy appointments!

Sending love and hugs to you and Clover. Good luck at the vets x

Sending lots of healing vibes to poor Clover and a big hug to you and Piggy Daddy, 🤞she comes through x

Fingers very firmly crossed for Clover!

I always worry about my oldies during heat spikes and heat waves - even with the best of care and precautions, the extra stress on the body can tip an already precarious balance. :(

Fingers crossed for Clover, this hot weather is hard on the older piggies. I've noticed Mavis and Peggy (my oldies) have been quiet and sleeping more than usual. Sending healing thoughts. xx

Back from the vet with some metaclopramide and a rather traumatised Clover pumped full of subcutaneous fluids. Her temperature was a bit low and she had no gut sounds on the right side but some gut gurgling on the left side, she certainly put up a fight against the bum thermometer though and did pop out out a couple of poops, slightly thin ones but not especially abnormal, and she did a very big healthy wee.
So its metaclopramine, probiotics, syringe feeds if she'll take it, and hopefully kick start her guts back into action... it is a worry given her age, not sure which way things will go as she's certainly at risk of gut stasis, but head vet Clare couldnt find anything else wrong so paws crossed she starts eating and co-operating with the syringe feeds!

Sending healing vibes to Clover.

I think my reaction to a bum thermometer would be similar, so I don't blame her one bit!

My old boy Gibson hated syringe food when he got to a certain age, but he loved porridge! We made it with oat milk but I'm sure water would be fine, let it cool so it's just warm, and see if she'll have some. Dry porridge oats are also good, but Gibson liked his sloppy and warm.

Keep us updated x

Well done Clover, hope that tummy gets moving soon get chomping little lady x

Yeay! Go Clover  keep eating precious golden oldie :luv:
my lot love supreme recovery food, they'll eat it straight off the spoon, none of them have liked anything else.
Does Clover like that?

The girls & I send lots of healing vibes your way, speedy recovery - munchy, munchy, gorgeous Clover xx

Clover and her anxious mummy and daddy thank you all for your kind thoughts!
Clover also wants to send special thanks to Auntie Heather @Merab's Slave who sent us a huge sachet of aniseed critical care a couple of weeks ago thinking we'll need it for Blod... we will still need it for Blod but it's certainly helping Clover today, she just took another 4mls :)
I dont think she dislikes it but she's never needed syringe feeding before and is very cross that it isnt loxicom in the syringe like it usually is. We are managing with the syringe, tried it on a spoon and a cucumber slice but that got kicked onto daddy's shirt then stamped on, Clover is very opinionated and is putting up a huge fight over everything despite being a sick feeble arthritic elderly lady lol.

Sending lots of healing wheeks to Clover and best wishes for you all. Hopefully being her stubborn self is a good sign.
