Please keep your fingers crossed for Meleri's eye removal operation!

Just picked up on this thread. I am so very pleased to hear Meleri is doing well after her op, it must have been a worrying time for you. Sending good vibes to her and hugs to you xx.

Me and my piggies all send healing vibes to Pickle, hoping all goes well

Great to hear she is doing so well. Long may it continue.

Hope that Meleri has had a comfortable night @Wiebke

@hot fox all the best for Pickles

Meleri is doing fine for 'Operation Hangover Day', thanks. God bless her huge competitive instinct for not wanting to lose out on anything because of her small size! There is nothing wrong with her appetite. She's still a bit tired from all the stress yesterday and a bit sore in her face.
As the pain and discomfort were all inside her eye and she had already lost her sight, her body is actually surprisingly little impacted apart from the tightly sewn scar over her socket. It is a bit worse for piggies with a retrobulbar abscess, which also requires a different approach depending on the abscess.

The transition to life with a blind side is also a lot easier for her since she's been living with diminished sight for two years due to milder congenital cataracts in both eyes long before the one in the left eye suddenly went really bad over Christmas and then started to gradually and increasingly affect the eye behind it. I have had the odd cataract piggy with a mild form of this before but never one that bad.

Once the eye scar starts knitting in a day or two, she should be quickly feeling noticeably better than before her op but not experience the kind of shock that comes with sudden sensory loss of input that you'd normally associate with an eye removal op. :)

Glad Meleri is doing so well now. It does take a day or so to get over the surgery.
I'm sure her eye will look less dramatic when everything is healed up.
Hope you're OK too with caring for her and the others.

@hot fox - hope Pickles' op has gone well today

So glad that the op went well and that Meleri is recovering well :luv:

Thank you!

Meleri is perfectly fine, eats normally and hasn't lost any weight. She just needs her medication but no additional feeding support. Which makes a nice change after the two last piggy emergencies!
