Piggy returned from Abscess draining - really tired?

It’s great he is eating some hay for himself. make sure you weigh him daily while he is recovering so you can be sure he really is eating enough for himself
...and check he keeps pooping! We love piggie poops on this forum. We don't even mind pictures of poops! 😅

If he's been given a narcotic shot, that would explain the drowsiness. One of my pigs, Sundae, had a very deep abscess on her jaw and the vet had to do a lot of digging to get to the bottom of it... he gave her a shot of Demerol (mild narcotic pain relief) and kept her the entire day in the office because she was quite out of it... she was extremely dopey when we brought her home still. She was more herself the next day. The first night she was clearly high as a kite! Hope all continues to go well... keep a very close eye on his weight and be ready to step in with syringe feeds if needed, and keep an eye on the wound for any aftercare (if the abscess has been left open, you will have to keep it clean and draining so it can heal slowly from the inside out.)

That's great to hear! When I was syringing a poorly piggy her healthy friend was sniffing round for anything dropped from the syringe and gobbling it up so they do like the stuff :D Keep up the support feeding to keep his guts moving until he's back to normal.
