Piggy not eating properly

This morning she was 869 yesterday was 848 so she’s deffo not losing any weight thank god. She’s always been a slim girl so she really can’t afford to lose anything. She’s been asleep a lot today I might make a vets appointment for Thursday or Friday but I’m scared I think the next step is tests and I panic so so much dropping a pig off for the day and them going under anaesthetic. Awful times.

I went to the vets today and enquired about a few things. I’m meant to give her 8mls of emeraid every few hours not 4 or 5mls so I need to start being tough and getting it down her. Also they reassured me that I won’t see improvements quick like I do with antibiotics so it’s best to wait a full week and watch her over the weekend and report back to them on Monday and maybe drop her for tests. I feel a bit better now that the baby steps she’s taking are how it’s meant to be. Thankyou

She’s very lucky to have such a dedicated and caring slave.
Glad she’s doing a bit better.
When I’ve had a sick piggy needing to gain weight I supplement the syringe feeding with a dish of the food in the cage. It’s ok that the others ‘help’ with eating it.
Raw oats are also good, especially mixed with a bit of grated carrot or sweet potato.

Thankyou haha I am willing to be stressed and broke forever for these piggys. She’s a whole new girl this morning she’s out the bedroom and eating with her sister I’m so happy she must be feeling much better. But she was down 20gs again so I’m still doing emeraid. Even if she’s better on Monday I still want to take her to the vets for a quick look over and to see what we’re going to do going forward to keep her heart stable. Thanks so much everyone. I know this isn’t over but the horrible washing machine anxiety feeling has left my stomach for the first time since Friday.

I’ve just been back to the vets she pretty much made a full recovery in 7 days shes been eating loads and not losing weight. but she was quiet this morning before her appointment. I didn’t know what to do so I took her back. She’s a bit bloated they said but it’s not the bad bloat that kills them. She’s on cisapride 0.1 for 5 days. I’m a bit sad though I was made to feel like a nuisance and bad mum. They said I might be the one stressing her by bringing her to the vets? last week they didn’t tell me what to do if she got better they just said see how she is in 7 days so I presumed this meant being her back.

Sorry you were made to feel bad.
My vets have always said they would rather see piggies with nothing wrong than piggies who have been left too late.
You are just being a loving and caring owner.
