Piggies In The House Not Working Out....!

The liners from ziggys piggies arrived and success! They are much denser than any fleece I have ever bought and there is virtually no smell seven after been on for two whole days (I put puppy pads under but only the two corners with no litter trays got a bit wet), and the leopard print one I tried first really hides the poop! I cant even see them unless I really look for them. House been really tidied up since workmen finished last week, and now my OH is pretty happy, and just wants me to chill out about the cage now - litter trays working well too and just popped my first fleece in the wash this morning, so easy to brush hay off - got the zebra one down now - result! The fact the liners fit the cage and are thick enough that they don't move when the piggies run about has really helped too - thanks everyone for you tips - looks like my boys are staying in for winter! :) Ps typing this from my phone otherwise would have added ALOT of smilies! ;)

And less spelling mistakes! Lol

here are some pics of the new setup - the long pink fleece is only over the cage until my OH leaves for work as it means that he doesn't see the poops so easily and the new fleece liners are great for hiding it - woohoo!

if you compare with the setup on a stand (the old setup which lasted for a day!) the new one is much less intrusive and also the piggies will be able to come out onto the floor easier.

My old cat has taken residence on top of the cage and at 17 1/2 years old she loves having such a plush place to sleep - the piggies don't mind her either - in fact Spud sleeps directly below her on the mezzanine level! The leopard print fleece is below her and that one is amazing for hiding poop - you really have to look for it!

As you can see the cage is right beside my home office and I have a cupboard dedicated to the pets things - so all very easy to maintain.

here is a close up of the boys - the cuddle cup I made - still sussing out the litter tray as there is a gap between it and the hay rack so all the hay dropping on the fleece but not a huge problem.

Sorting out linking their pop up cage to this for daytime exercise but plan to get a small folding run so that I can just open them onto the kitchen floor and let them run about - the cat will be removed when that happens though!

thanks again everyone for you comments - cannot recommend Zippys piggies enough - the fleece liners are great.

That looks great, and I see what you mean about it seeming less intrusive on the floor too. Anyway, as you say, you've the cupboard to hide everything in. I'm jealous of your home office! V handy. I have to clear a space whenever I need to work at home, or balance it on my lap! And I bet the pigs enjoy the company too- as well as your gorgeous (what a good age!) cat.

Well the home office is really just a desk with a pc in between the kitchen cupboards, but does the job perfectly! My cats sister passed away last year at 16 - so good genes! lol! I am really enjoying having the piggies around more too :cake:

Hi Smileyface, glad you've finally got your boys settled. I must say, though, that I prefer the set-up with the cage stand. Less intimidating for the piggies, and better for your back, too! Do you not find it awkward, bending down to clean out the cage?
Also, I think the zebra fleece in the 3rd photo plays tricks with my eyes! If I look to the side of the picture, I could swear the boys are moving! !

lol! that is a crazy pic - I find it handier for me to sit next to the cage to clean - for a full clean I put them in the pop up run and remove the wire top and then I can sweep everything in the tray into a bin bag - and for spot cleaning I can easily access from above and the front. Now I use the liners cleaning is really quick too so no problems there.

I was always a bit worried too that one of the boys might climb out if the front was ever left open by my kids so I am less anxious with this setup, but I can see how the stand would work and if it hadn't bothered my OH so much it would have stayed, but I am just happy to have the cage in - and the cat loves her huge bed too. :))

My daughter, who is 5, likes to sit on the floor beside the cage and read to them too, so they seem to get more interaction that way too.

Those cage liners from ZiggysPiggies are brilliant, aren't they? They make everything so much simpler.
I have 3 on the floor of the two C and C cages in my bedroom, and small ones inside the Trixie boxes in the spare room.
I wash them once a month ad turn them over every two weeks. I use a rubber brush to remove droppings and loose hair.
I am going to buy 2 more for the floor so that I can replace all 3 at once.

wow - your piggies have so much space - might look at c&c grids to create their run for the cage - are they easy enough to fold down if putting them up each day or would the locking bits fall apart after a lot of folding? or am I better with a folding metal run? :)

Wow 7squeakers, how on earth do you get away with only washing your liners once a month! I have 2 boars in a 6'x4' with loft and have to replace twice per week - maybe I have super pee-ers! Mine don't seem too poop an awful lot but could wee for England

Glad the indoor setup is starting to work out for you :)

Yip, my boys pee alot too - liners hold up well but am changing every 2-3 days at moment to make sure there are no smells - love seeing my wee boys all snuggled up when I get my breakfast - they have now sussed the veg is in the fridge and make some noise when its opened - wee monkeys!
