The gap was really bugging me and because the hutch is just outside the dinning room patio doors I can see it every meal time and I kept sitting there thinking how can I sort that gap out then I came up with this idea and it worked

iI have put a strip of wooden along the edge of the gap to stop piggies sliding off at night and to stop the shavings falling off. I am tempted to make the hole smaller but that is a future project

p.s very please with it It has had a few adjustments like door hooks etc but I do love it!
