Ninalb
New Born Pup
I've started taking my piggies outside in a large dog crate with no bottom. I supervise them at all times, never more than half a foot away. I use no pesticides on my lawn, which is mostly made of weeds (clovers, dandelions, etc) with a little grass, so I've been letting them graze. I've only done this twice but I want to make it a more common occurrence as they really seem to enjoy it and the weather is getting nicer. I live in Eastern Pennsylvania in the USA, the suburbs. Is there anything that I should be careful of that is in my lawn or is this a bad idea in general? They really like going outside in the dog crate, and grazing and sniffing gives them so much enrichment that I'd hate to stop but if it's too dangerous, I obviously will.
Also, if there a flea and tick thing I should put on them (like cats and dogs but not flea and tick medicine for cats and dogs cause I looked up that it was dangerous) just so they don't pick up any bugs?
On another note, I've started growing wheatgrass for them in case they can't go outside but I don't have it in such large quantities as the yard. Anything I should watch out in the soil I'm using to grow them in?
Thanks so much! Love to hear about how other people take their guineas outside too!
