it 's nice to think that shadow is here in spirit even if not here physically. there are some cruel people out there that say animals don;t have souls, it makes me so mad :tickedoff: :tickedoff: well obviously those people don;t love animals 98) shadow was just the sweetest pig ever and no matter how many times u lose a pet, it is still difficult to go thru. staring at the space where he used to sit where his cage was makes me cry too. i hope i don;t have bad dreams about this. when my hamsters died i would have dreams about them still alive altho the dreams didn;t really make a whole lot of sense. he was my very first guinea pig and i don;t have any other piiggies now to cuddle. i have my family dogs tho so that;s good. :smitten:

hi, wish i was closer to you i'd give you a cuddle, you made me cry reading your post! :'( :'( you never get over losing a pet. what angers me is people say why get upset it was only a guinea pig! :tickedoff: :tickedoff: i'd love to strangle these people. :tickedoff: :tickedoff:we lost petal 3.5 years ago and rosie 2.5 years ago , choloe 1.5 years ago and it still hurts. :'( :'(
shadow knew you loved him, you were lucky you got to say goodbye and held him to the last. :'( :'(shadow is up in paradise watching over you playing with all piggies gone before him. think of him, keep him in your heart and he'll always be with you. :smitten: :smitten: i know what you mean about the dreams, i often still dream about departed pets or people dreaming they are alive and waking and finding it was all a dream. it is like losing them all over again. :'( :'(
treasure your memories and know so many people are sending you love, and prayers to you and that so many people feel for you and care about you. :smitten: :smitten:
RIP shadow boy, a wonderful piggy so much loved and will be so much missed. run free and be happy! :'( :'( :'(
sending hugs and cuddles to you and know shadow is watching over you. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

i feel a bit better now but of course still sad. i am glad he was my pig and that we shared such a special bond. he loved to be cuddled like a baby over my shoulder. :smitten:
that is one of the things that i will miss and also he always begged me for his favorite alfalfa munchies and of course i gave him lots, made him very happy. i 'll miss his purring sounds too. :'(

:'( :'(so sorry to read little shadow has passed away :'(after losing yolande on Friday i know just how you feel :'( :'(

Glad you are feeling a little better. I cried for 48 hours when I lost Cuzzy. I kept saying, he was only a guinea pig, I didn't mean it in a bad way it's just I'd never lost a pig before I didn't know it would effect me so badly.

Just give yourself time to grieve and then you will remember the happy times. :smitten:

i cry off and on... sometimes i feel better then when i get to thinking i get upset again. it is very hard to look in the place where he lived all these years without feeling grief and like i just lost a really good friend. i can;t even bring myself to look at his pictures... well, at least not now, i need some time then i will feel more up to it, to me, he wasn;t just "some rodent" like some people would feel but to me he was a very special little companion, my little ball of fur. i just remember all the little things about him, the way he munched on his lettuce, how he tilted his head to get a drink from the water bottle, how he would wheek at me to give him food especially at dinner time. he would always let me know when dinner time was , even a little before it was time! he was just one of the sweetest most adorable little guinea pigs ever and we had a connection with each other. :) i try to do things to get myself concentrating on other things but i just feel sapped of energy from depression and loss. that is how it is when u lose a very much loved and cherished pet. i didn;t know it would affect me like this but i am glad he has found peace now. :smitten: (sigh) it;s hard.... and i know i am going on and on here but.... this is what i believe is the one disadvantage to having pets is that they don;t stay forever. :'(

i can so feel your pain and hear the sorrow in your words. wish there was something i could do to ease your pain. know that shadow is at peace, he knew he was loved and you know that so many people care about you and are sending their prayers and love to you. we lost petal aug 2004 and rosie june 2005 and choloe sept 2006 and it still hurts and we miss them like crazy!! 2006 was a year we would love to forget, we lost our 2 dogs in jan 2006 5 days apart one age 14 the other age 16. aug 2006 i lost my mum and thumper our 7 year old dwarf bunny. sept 2006 OH lost his father and we lost choloe.
being a pet owner brings joy, happiness but it also brings saddness and heartache. like with one of the dogs and little choloe we had to decide they were better of sleeping forever, it still hurts now.
a lot of people laugh at us for being sad cause a guinea pig has passed on, people think we're mad for taking guinea pigs to the vet when they are so cheap to buy. while their comments anger and hurt us, we feel sorry for them too because they have never known the joy and love a little guinea pig can bring.
you cry and grieve shadow, he was your friend, companion, in time think of the good times and now while he is in your heart he will always be with you!
you take care my heart goes out to you :'( :'( :'( wish i could just hug you and make all the pain go away. sending love and prayers your way. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

i just now wrote like eight poems about Shadow and they are all pretty good, i think, they don;t rhyme but a poem doesnot always have to rhyme to be good. there was one i especially liked, it was so beautiful. i am also going to write a memorial page for him and put in the scrapbook.

I'm so very sorry. You did so well, and I know it's so hard to attempt to treat a guinea pig after huge weight loss. Shadow knew he was loved and you were there for him when he needed you. He fell on his feet having you as his owner.

i know exactly how u feel hun, maybe shadow and my xavier are friends! i was so worried that xavier would be angry with me for letting the vet take him but it was for the best. i've been in a state for the last 3 days worrying about him going...and that maybe he'd pick up. we all know how you feel and send our love. :'( :'( :'( :'( :smitten:

it's nice to think he has GP friends in piggy heaven bc he didn;t have any when he was alive, i only had him and now i don;t have any.... :( :( i went with a couple friends to Starbucks to day and it helped to temporarily get my mind off of things... they were sorry and sad for me that he died.

you are so lucky you had friends that unbderstand how much shadow meant to you, when we have lost a piggy we get come on why so upset it was only a guinea pig or a dumb animal! it wasn't a person so get over it. while these comments upset and hurt us we also feel sorry for that person because they have never been loved by a piggy or any animal and have no idea what they are missing out on. you keep shadow in your heart and he will always be with you. may god be with you and give you comfort. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

bluerose120...my xavier was an only guinea pig too! he couldnt live with others because the people at sea pets said that was why he'd been orphaned there...cuz he didnt get on with the other guineas (should of been a sign for me to worry i guess...maybe i should of known he was ill) but am sure shadow and xavier are having fun!

i'm getting new guinea pigs today since the house is in my room not outdoors and it looks strange empty...i keep waking up all sleepy and wondering where he is then i remember. i think the only way for me to get over loosing xavvy is to get a or maybe 3 new ones, i'll always love him and he knows that but i dont think he'd want me to be upset about him not being in pain. :'( :embarassed: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Hi Bluerose, I just saw your post today. I know it's a couple of days later, but I am so sorry to hear about Shadow. I joined this forum when I got my guinea to learn about guineas but I never expected to feel such loving thoughts about everyone's little guineas. I sat and cried when I read your first post about losing poor Shadow. My heart broke for you. I can't imagine the pain you must feel. I know you must have so many happy, loving thoughts of Shadow to help you make it throught the times your feeling blue. I'm glad you were with your baby when he passed. It's so sad that guinea's don't live to long. We don't have enough time with our babies. I'm thinking of you Bluerose and wishing that you'll feel better soon. RIP little Shadow..
:'( :'( :'( :'(

thank you everyone for your sympathy and concern. i am feeling better now but of course i still miss my little baby. i have been able to look at pictures again now of him without too much trouble. it just feels strange that he;s gone. also, i had a question. the vet had said that syringe feeding was okay but then i read some posts on here that they could choke on it. :( now i am wondering if maybe i accidentally choked him which really breaks my heart.. :'( :'( someone pls let me know. :(

as for getting other guineas, it may be a while like later this year sometime. i just need some time and also cuz it would be disrespectful to shadow to run out and getting more guinea pigs so soon after he died. for now, i only have my fishies as pets but 2 of them had also died, a betta and a guppy. so this has been a bad week for me. :( the betta jumped out of her tank, found her on the floor too late :( and the guppy was sick. :( but i will sometime be getting maybe like 3 piggies later in the year.

the vet didnt even give me the option of syringe feeding xavier...no one could offer me any advise...hence i wish i'd found this site before xavier was put to sleep.

yes it is soon for me and the boys, but as the cage is in my bed room, seeing it empty was making me cry too! xavier and shadow know that they were dearly loved 0:) just for me i needed something to occupy my free time so i didnt get too deep in thought...and they were rescue guineas as they were going to be sold to hell aka sea pets (where i got my sick xavier)

everyone is different greving wise.

Good for you taking rescue piggies, we will never buy from a pet shop again.
And now you have us lot to try to help, if you need anything for your piggies which you can not get there, give me a shout and I will see if I can get it and post it over to you, I will even send you the receipt/bill, and convert it into $ and then just pay it into my paypal account. O0
