Not himself?

Syringe feeding isn’t easy.
If you have someone to help you that will make it easier. Wrap him up in a towel so that you can hold him securely.
Be prepared to get messy.
My vets sold me Oxbow Critical Care for my Jemimah post surgery and that seemed to be acceptable to her.
You could syringe a little water as well as food.
Hope he recovers quickly

That will be mucus from his gut slowing right down. Syring feed the critical care. Make it runny ish. Like the baby food texture it will suck up into the syringe well. But cut the tip of the syringe off first . Nothing is better than critical care right now. It has everything in it he needs, he will feel better from it and may start to eat by himself

Just one more thing. Make sure you are feeding unlimited timothy have when hes better . This keeps the teeth from overgrowing in the first place. Sometimes guinea pigs teeth go bad no matter what though
I can’t find anything called unlimited Timothy, could you send me a link? x

It’s called ‘Timothy hay’. Unlimited means to make sure they have access to fresh hay constantly

How is the poor boy doing? Are you managing to get the syringe feed down him? Also is he on pain medication?
Recently I got him critical care, and he’s managed to do small poops which is a blessing, still syringe feeding him but he’s made effort to eat himself, still hasn’t touched the drink bottle though

Keep up the good work:yahoo:

That’s good, keep going with the syringe feeding.I know how exhausting it is.Is he on pain relief?

He’s already had his medication from the surgery so he isn’t on it anymore x

I agree with gem789 you could do with some metacam or loxicom, same thing. Normaly you give it by syringe twice a day. I'm surprised you havnt been given any. Painkiller given from the surgery will have worn off long ago

I’d recommend asking the vet for some.A pig that is in pain won’t eat x
He isn’t in pain like I said his surgery was a week ago, and he’s eating cucumber and celery leaves at the moment x

Yes I see what you said. But from experience it is always best to have some. The faster your pig gets back to normal the better. And it will help this happen.

When you say he isnt in pain you dont actually know that. Id rather give something and hes not, than not give it and he is. In this circumstance anyway as loxicom will not have any bad affects on your pig if given for no reason. If your pigs appetite goes i would get some personally

Here's where quite a few forum members get their timothy hay from and it's really nice stuff! (2018) 9kg of Timothy Hay | Timothy Hay | Hay Supplies UK

If that's too big you can always feed another sort of hay - as long as it smells nice and sweet and your piggy has access to it all the time. That's the most important bit - hay should make up 80% of their diet :). Let us know if you need any more info.

Thank you so much xx

I’m guessing they gave him an injection but that only lasts for a day and if he’s still not eating properly my guess is he could be in pain x[/QUOTE
Like I said he’s been giving medication, when he had his surgery a week ago or so, he was given an anti-biotic and something else which I can’t remember at the top of my head, so he’s had medication and we gave it him until he ran out of it
