Phoned a vet in glasgow today and, yes, they have a vet who deals with rodents! Don't want to get excited too soon but am hopeful that this time something will get done. Appointment not till Saturday at ten o'clock but he does'nt seem to be suffering. He wheeks when a bag gets rustled and is interested in his surroundings he's just losing a lot of weight and obviously not eating. He is drinking by himself again which is good and he's pooing a lot more even if it is still hamster sized! He does look very depressed a lot of the time and will sit huddled in the corner of his cage. Think he's feeling cold too becuase he's burrowing under his hay a lot which he never used to do. Anyway the syringe feeds will continue (thanks mum! Shes better at it than me!) and hopefully come Saturday I'll have some answers. Will update again on Saturday. Thanks again for all the advice and support! Reggie and I really appreciate it! Think of us on Saturday!

Okay just back from vet, very nice women who examined him thoroughly and tried to look in his mouth, much to Reggies disgust! Asked all about him and said he doesn't fit the criteria of a piggy with mouth problems but he may be developing a problem with the muscles in his jaw. Basically the muscles stop working and piggy is unable to chew. If it isn't that then there may be something nasty lurking somewhere that needs to be detected. In the meantime he has steroids to boost his appetite and drops to put in his water (BSP vitamin drops which smell nasty!). So I've to keep syringe feeding as usual and give him 1/2 a steriod tablet daily to see how he goes. To phone vet on Wednesday to update on how he is. As for Reggie himself he seems a lot brighter than a few days ago and wheeks very loudly and indignantly if I dare to appear without grass or salad for him! Doesn't wheek so much when I appear with the syringe in my hand, wonder why? How do you upload photos on here? Would like to post one of Reggie getting his feed so you can see how cute he looks and one of Gus so he doesn't feel left out!

It sounds like the visit went well and hopefully the vet will be able to sort him out. So he has been giving some steroids to boost his appetite (as well as to build up his muscles). I have heard somewhere on this thread someone saying about getting him something to boost his appetite. ::) :)

Am expecting him to grow huge muscles and throw his friend about the cage! Was quite pleased with vet visit at least she seemed to know what she was talking about.

Thought I'd better update on Reggie. Not much change. He eats some veg and salad some days and other days turns his nose up. He is eating some food from his bowl but only a couple of grams a day so he is STILL being syringe fed, have a feeling he is just going to have to be syringe fed for the rest of his days! Has this happened to any other piggies? Holidays are coming up and both piggies were supposed to be going to a holiday home but don't know if they will take Reggie now when he needs syringe fed, I may have to cancel my hols which I was looking forward to but if Reggie needs me more then theres not much I can do.
