nightmare with pets at home, feel hopeless and like giving up

Just back from Pets at Home!

I walked in with the cage, and put it on the floor and said

'I'd like to return this"
"Is there anything wrong with it?"
"Its not fit for purpose, the purpose being to house two guinea pigs"
"Ok thats fine, would you like it back on your card or in cash"

I was flabbergasted! I was expecting a fight, a bad attitude or something....but no just £50.00 cash.

Either my face said it all (do NOT **** me off!) or this must happen a lot - which I dearly hope it doesn't.

I've just got home, and realised I didn't return the hay loft, food bowl, hay, wood chippings or nuggets that all came with the cage. HAHAHAHAA!

Thank you to all you lovely people for your help. I will no doubt be relying on you guys again, and not that I'm anywhere near as clued up as you lot but if I can help with anything I'll be sure to reply asap! x
 
I'm pleased you got your money back but it's quite astonishing, isn't it. I guess they hope our future custom is worth more than the refund. Would be much more sensible if they only sold bigger cages in the first place.

We had a member some time ago that worked for P@H. He said that they had quotas for each type of cage that they had to meet each week. So they want to sell the small ones as much as the big ones in order to meet their store quotas. Crazy. :{

I don't know why they don't sell the c&c cube's in there or full cage pack's, there is plenty of room for profit with a big company like that too.
 
I cant believe they have targets for cages - that is disgusting. Total disregard for health and welfare of innocent animals from the head of the company all the way down, wow that is utterly shocking. How can they get away with this!?

Selling C&C cages there would be great, but I'm guessing their company has a select few suppliers for cages meaning they get great deals and can make maximum money from customers. They dont care about the actual pets, or cages. Just money.

Hi, I don't really have any further advice for you, I'd just like to wish you luck with making your C+C and I hope your little boys enjoy it and start to settle down with each other again :)
 
Well done, the " don't mess with me face" is hard to achieve but once you've mastered it there's no stopping you! :))
Have fun making the C & C cage, make sure you buy cable ties as well!
