Need Help! I think my girl is a boy?

I have two girls. they have been together for about 1 to 1 1/2 months.

Now I hear my Bella doing this purr like sound and Emma my other girl (?) is humping her...and keeps doing it every time we stop her she goes at it again.

My question is What should I do. Could one be a boy? I got them both at a pet store that told me they only get females in...

When females come into season (every 17/18 days) they can behave in a 'male' way, including rumblestrutting, mounting and generall butchness. It normally only lasts around a day, some seasons are stronger than others so will be more obvious.

If you would like confirmation of the sexing of your pigs please take a pic of each pig's privates, as well lit and in focus as possible, the experienced forum members will help sex them.

If you google search,you can get tips on how to correctly sex them.I did it with the piggy I rescued a few weeks ago,and he is definately male lol.

If one's privates look rather different and larger then the other then you have a male and a female, sadly we made the mistake of buying 2 "females" from a pet shop!

If you can get clear photos of both your piggies "bits" (sorry piggies!) and post them on the forum I'm sure our experienced owners/rescues will be able to give you some advice. Failing that your vet or vet nurse should be able to sex them for you. Fingers crossed you have two of the same sex!

Chances are that one of your girls is just having a strong season. It can really throw the unsuspecting! Please always check and recheck the gender of any new guinea pig on its arrival yourself as well. Mistakes can easily happen with youngsters. Thanks everyone. I did try last night to sex the one humping...she looks like a girl to me. Nothing "Stuck out" at all. But I would love second opinions, so when my hubbie gets home tonight I will take some pictures for you guys. Thank you all for offering to help me. I came home from work last night and was freaking out alittle about emma being so aggresive with Bella. It is usually the other way around. Emma would NOT leave Bella alone and Bella (we think) was the one purring. We could be wrong about that though, since they were both chasing each other and acting all wild and crazy.

Best not to stress untill you know the sexes for definatly because sows can often display this behaviour while in season. Just pop the pictures up and I'm sure youll get lots of replies.

My sow had a litter about 3 months ago and she rumble struts and mounts the other girlies sometimes and I am POSITIVE that she is a female. Check the links as mentioned, they helped me out tons when her pups were born. Best of luck!
