@Chrenr - Offering my deepest sympathy, and sincere condolences for your loss! Was this the smaller of the two?! Have you managed to weigh the remaining guinea pig since seeing the veterinarian?! How is your remaining guinea pig behaving?! Is your remaining guinea pig eating, and drinking?!

Thank you, yes he was the smaller one, my remaining one was always cuddling up to the one I lost, asif he knew he wouldn't make it, nope not yet, going to when I get home, behaviour wise he looks lost but I guess that's understandable considering he's just lost his soul mate, yes still eating and drinking x

Witnessing the grieving process is absolutely heartrending - Especially, when the guinea pigs have shared a close bond, and/or have been together for a long time/ since birth etc!

However, until your remaining guinea pig has made a full recovery, it would not be advisable to adopt another. . .

Would you be able to take your remaining guinea pig back to Taverham Vets tomorrow - It would be advisable to have your remaining guinea pig examined by the veterinarian to determine whether further treatment is necessary?!

He's getting there, been feeding him warm mashed pellets 4 times a day with fresh cabbage, peppers, broccoli and tomato once a day, he's been having a bit if vitamin c tablet daily, just aiming for him to gain weigt and manage to keep it on, thing is he doesn't like peppers cabbage or broco loo and only eats tomato if it's hand fed to him haha, he's starting to smell and his fur is turning a disgusting colour, anyone know how I go about bathin him? Do I just put some warm water in a bowl and put him in?

Hi Hun, your best bet would be to wash him in the kitchen sink, line it with a t-towel and add some warm water to it, only a shallow amount as you dont want to drown him and using a specialised piggy shampoo give him a wash all over avoiding the head area especially the eyes and ears, then i usually drain the sink and rinse with fresh water out of a jug.

Here are bathing tips. Please don't overdo the tomato or fruit (not more than twice a week), the acid can cause cheilitis, lip and mouth infection. Have you tried fresh herbs like coriander or parsley?
