I had ginger on my lap in the grass and I let go of him and he jumped of and ran away:( we have used his brother as a way of enticing him back and lots of food and his tunnel but still not back it's been 45 mins help
 
Search the garden high and low

Put out several hides with their favourite veggies in to entice them. Is your garden fenced?

Have you checked next door gardens? Looked under sheds etc?
 
Have you got friends and family who can help you search?
 
In my experience when faced with a Houdini guinea pig who escaped from a run, leave various favourite hidies with food and then give him space to get back into one of them seemingly unwatched. He may not venture out if you're there but will be happier to break cover if he can't see you; even if you are watching from afar.

It such a heartbreaking experience.

I hope you find him soon

Hey. The first few days are crucial.
When my guinea pigs ran away a few months ago my community was so big they could have been anywhere. I found that one was under the wooden fence in my backyard. We were able to get him out with help from a stranger but had to do quite the digging. I didn't find the other guy for 3 days.
Turned out he was in our neighbours yard.

I would suggest making a poster and put that around your community and give it to your neighbours. Offer award. From personal experience there is little chance they are going to come back to the food once they have left the garden.

If you know anyone with a dog you could also let them get the guinea pigs scent and try to help you, it's worth a shot!

Hopefully you find him.
 
If you think he went that way than I would check there too.
You should see if you know anyone with a dog. It might point you in the right direction.
I live in the suburb so it was pretty easy to find them, might be harder if you live in a rural area.

That sounds like a complete nightmare, not just for the field but for the potential of predators. I hope you find him but honestly it looks like it may be a challenge.

I'm a bit alarmed at the number of escapes lately and all in unsecured gardens.
 
Still no guinea pig :(
Mind you we've only had him for 2 weeks (technically 4 weeks but we went away for two and had to get him to stay with some friends)

@Squeakz my garden is secure where my piggies are.
 
Oh no!
Put veggies all around your garden and alert all your neighbours to keep an eye out and search their gardens. If your neighbours have dogs and cats ask if they can keep them inside until you have found him as they might scare him and make him run further away. Put up some notices with a photo of him. I really hope you find him! Good luck! x
 
Okay I have an update,

Earlier I found lots of his fur in a hedge and little bits of fur here And there.
followed it along many badger paths and up into my neighbours garden will ask him later if I can have a look around.
No blood but I think a badger may have got him.

Think he is dead
We r thinking of getting another to replace him won't get a female coz the will breed
Is it okay to put two males from different families together

Yes it is ok if it's not from the same litter but you will need to bond a new piggy regardless of age, gender or relation.

Please have a good read thru the behavior and bonding section of the forum for lots of tips and advice
Behaviour and Bonding

Please do not just place the new piggy in the same cage as the old one no matter how tempting, give them the time they need in order to have a greater chance of success. A good tip in the early stages of bonding is to section off part of the cage so that they can have contact thru the bars but not get at one another.
 
I agree, it's really important you follow the guidelines for bonding your guinea pigs, and obviously it's vitally important you have a secure outdoor run for them with a secure roof too. I'm also in the countryside and we have a lot of birds so I always have to check on them even whilst in their runs.

Best to keep your little boxes out with food inside to try and entice your escaped piggy to come back.

Sorry but I think thats a very harsh comment. I am pretty sure that the OP has learnt the hard way from this and comments like that really aren't helpful in a distressing situation like this. Every piggy owner makes mistakes.
