My Guinea Pig Never Sleeps

Hello i am concerned about my guinea pig because she never sleeps. Last night I woke up due to a nightmare and I looked up and honey was wide awake just staring into the distance so I checked her food and water and hay and all was fine. Then I set up a camera ( my new phone ) so I could see what she does and when I checked the footage back ( from 2 am to 9 p.m. ) and she didn't sleep at all now I am worried for her health

I'm only a new owner myself but I've read online that they only sleep about four hours a day, and many can actually sleep with there eyes open! I've had my girl two weeks and never seen her eyes close, but I do see her stretch out and lie down in her cage

All piggies sleep with their eyes open. They are prey animals and have evolved this way. You will sometimes catch a piggy sleeping with it's eyes closed when it feels really safe.

and they can sleep even for short periods! for example only 6 seconds..
I have read that their brain is never totally asleep, because they need to be aware of predators. Relaxed piggies sleep differently...

Yeah, I've seen mine go from snoozing on their side to hurtling around at top speed and then snoozing again within seconds.

Your pig will definitely sleep at some point but it could be just for a few minutes. Mine are sometimes quite active when I get up during the night.

Watch our for a kind of glazed vacant look. That's when they are asleep. Mine tend to sleep for 15 mins at a time.
