My guinea pig isn't walking and is in pain

Is their poo actually runny like water or very soft?
Not running like water. But its a little soft. In the morning it was small and hard. Right now its a little soft and theres like 3 or 4 poos together

That’s not diarrhoea then, it’s just soft. Have you taken them off all veg and grass?

Yes yess. Yesterday i did give them lettuce because thats what the vet (inexperienced) said to give them. 🙄.. But right now i give them only hay and pellets which i soak in vitamin c and water...

I wouldn’t soak the pellets, just give them as they are. If they’re eating hay then they shouldn’t need the vitamin c. Issue is it degrades over time and they may eat less. Are you only giving them a tablespoon of pellets each? Shouldn’t be more than that.

When can you get scales to weigh them?

Stop all veg now until their poo is normal for at least 1-2 days. Then you can slowly introduce it again. I’d give coriander (1-2 sprigs) to start with.

Hi yess. They arre asking more but I'm trying to make them eat the hay.. I was soaking them because they arent drinking the vitamin c. And there are no other vitamin c tablets at the vets and i also dont want to give them vegies because its making there poos too soft

If you give them too much pellets they won’t eat the hay. Put a big pile in and leave them to munch. If they squeak you have to resist and not give them veg or more pellets.

What degrades over time? You mean when the water with vitamin is in a water bottle? Is it still a problem is i only put half a tablet in water and make them drink it and replace all the water after few hours, to try to avoid degrading it?

Hiii no i wasnt able to get the scales... Okayy i will resist giving them pellets. My parents are still at work and i dont have any rn. They do seem to be a little lighter and also the one whose in bad shape had a swollen/distended belly. The belly looks a little more normal rn but occasionally he is in pain specially to poop

Did you read the guide about bloat that Wiebke linked to?
Please ask your parents to get some scales so you can weigh them. You can't tell their weight by just looking. And I think you said you can feel each of their ribs, correct?

Yes i can feel there ribs

Just feed them hay and pellets until the poo returns to normal. They should be getting their vitamin c from the hay and the pellets but when you do start them back on veg, bell pepper and coriander are great veggies containing lots of vitamin c.

If you can feel their ribs, they haven’t been eating enough hay so now you’re feeding hay, hopefully they will start to put weight on

Okayyy thank you... And about the walking part, could it be of vitamin deficiency that they are having difficulty walking?

We can’t tell you what is wrong with them. There is nothing we can do , only a vet can tell you what is wrong and give yu the appropriate treatment t

Maybe but as we’re not vets, I’m afraid we can’t diagnose. Only a vet can do that
Yess i understand thank youuu

Also, i noticed that a little above their anus was a little hard, is it normal or is it too much poo in the anal sack? Its okay if u cant answer i know u guys arrent vet. But if someone happens to have had the same experience then id be grateful if you could tell me what to do. Thankss🐁🐾

Above their bottom, on their body is the grease gland. It could that which you are feeling.

Ohh ok. Thanks. Because at first i thought it was an impaction but when i slightly opened the anus, there was no poo stuck... And the vets themselves dont know these things...

Impaction is loosening of the anal muscles which tends to happen in older boars

That looks like perfectly normal poop
Ohh okayy... Thats good
But the other piggy seems to be in a little more pain. The ojther one just had the really soft poops with like 3 or 4 stuck together. And then he ate it.😩So idk if its cecal poop or if its too soft poop

they take the caecotrophs one at a time directly from their bottom
Id the piggy is in pain you need to go to a vet. There is nothing more we can tell you really.

This is the poop of the piggy who isnt well

That one needs to be off veg. It looks like they're getting soaked in their urine. You may have to give them a bum bath (water only) every so often so they don't get urine scold.

Ohhh ok.... Should i wait for him to feel better for the bath? For few days he didng get up to pee so easch time i had to change the blankets. He is also not eating any vegies rn but yesterday he ate more because the vet said he was probably constipating and that we had to feed him lettuce.

Guinea pigs don’t get constipated. If a piggy isn’t pooping, then it’s because they haven’t eaten enough and could be going in GI stasis

I removed the pellets. But one of them doesnt really like the hay. I tried to rub the pellet on hay to make him want to eat the hay, but he only licked it... Is there anything i can do to make him eat hay?

Eating hay is natural for piggies. If yours haven’t had it before now then they don’t know what it is.
They will eat it when they are hungry.
However, if a piggy isn’t eating hay and is losing weight (this is why having scales is so important), then they are poorly and need a vet.

They should be given one tablespoon of pellets per day. They will tend to eat them and then you remove the bowl until the next day
