Minimum size cage for 4 girls?

No it doesn’t look big enough even for mum and babies ifs certainly not big enough for four.

What are it’s measurements. It would need to be 120cm x 60cm to meet minimum welfare requirements for just two piggies
80cm by 46cm

Oh gosh that is nowhere near good enough - it’s no more than a hamster cage. It’s dreadful that they have sold that to you. It’s not big enough for mum and babies at all.
Four piggies need 210cm x 60cm

The pet shop really does need to do more to help you. Could you go to trading standards about them?

Is the other sow living alongside mum and babies? She really needs to for the interaction. How big is the cage they were in? I'm afraid you really will have to spend some money to house them in sufficient space, there's no way around it. If your current hutch is two floors and i big enough for the piggies that need more space (3 sows) then you could close off and have sows above and boars below.
No had to separate them. Mummy was very aggressive towards her.

Right I'm going to get in touch. Is that size by law

Minimum rspca requirement for two piggies is 120cm x 60cm. You then need an extra 2 sq ft per additional piggy. Which makes a minimum cage of 180cm x 60cm for four piggies, 210cm x 60cm being better.

I meant where is she living in relation to the mum? They should have cages next to each other so they can interact even if they don't live together.

Wouldn't know where to start.
They are so cute but I spent alot money just for two. Think I going have sell them. But my other two have been hard work so I know I'm going have a closer bond with the babies. I will never buy from pet shop again.

Please don't sell them. If you have to give them up then look for a rescue you can surrender them to. I'm afraid guinea pigs are expensive.

I've took ladder out and boarded it up. So mum and babies in one half then other on other.

How big is the hutch? Is there no way you can move them inside? The mum and babies shouldn't really be outside.

Why not sell them. My friend might want them.

Only to that cage I showed you. But spoke to vet and they said as it warm and I've made it all nice and cosy they be fine

Is she going to give them the space they require and does she have the funds for vet fees? They can be expensive when it comes to that. That would be okay but don't list them on pet selling sites. Someone could buy them to use as food.

Okay. If you decide to keep the original two and they don't bond when you try again (fingers crossed that doesn't happen though!) then what is your plan? Because they need constant companionship, even if through the bars.

Omg no I wouldn't do that. How awful people do that
I know they are but I spent best part of 400 already I just can't spend anymore

But you wouldn't know if they'll be pets or food. What did you spend the £400 on? Do you have money set aside for vet fees?

I haven't thought about that yet. I'm so cross as I never planned or expected babies and i find my situation really hard to deal with.
Could I use the hutch separate 2 in top 2 in bottom maybe? As both just as big

What are the dimensions of the hutch? And can you separate it?

We understand, you were thrown into this unexpectedly.

Yes if you have two separate pairs, then they can live in each half of the hutch (top and bottom). Each half is big enough for one pair. (150x60 for one pair)

However, have you been able to sex the babies yet (I know it’s early after their birth). If they are opposite sexes then they won’t be able to live together for many many months - boars can’t be neutered until around 4-6 months of age and then still need to be kept separate for six weeks after neutering before you could attempt a bonding

Hutch was 200. Guinea pigs was 60. Made a run which was 40ish then by time I brought all the bits needed and the thermal cover I brought it goes over the 400

No I haven't. I booked into the vet in 3 weeks time. Might go before if they grown to the size that u need to separate. U all up in the air at moment.
If one is male what do people tend to do?

That's pretty normal. I know it's early days but you have to think about your arrangements once any boars have grown and are separated from mum, as mentioned by Piggies&Buns above.

It could be too late by 3 weeks time - They need to be sexed before then so you know what you’re dealing with.

If one is Male, then he needs to live in a separate cage Side by side until he is old enough to be neutered. Once neutered and then six weeks after neutering, a neutral territory bonding can happen. with either one of the females or all three. As mentioned though, your hutch size does not allow for all four to live together, you could only bond him with one of the females, so you would need to try him with one and see if they get on and bond, and they could live together in one half of the hutch, and the other pair in the other half of the hutch.

If both babies are female, then they can be split up into two pairs

If both babies are Male, then they can stay together but two males need more space and one half of your 150x60 hutch might be too small. 180cm x 60cm is recommended for two boys.

hi,6 feet x 2 feet is the absolute minimum size hutch for 4 girls.i understand you have been thrown in at the deep end;the above posters are trying to help you for the best welfare of your piggies and you.
