Hi, I hope someone can help. I have a thread already regarding my 5 year old piggy Bramble who had 3 punch biopsies and 2 scrapes under general anesthetic yesterday, but posting here just for any advice regarding her metacam dosage to manage the pain related to the biopsy wounds and skin scrapes.

She has been prescribed cat metacam 0.6mls once daily, she weighs 970 grams. My question is, is this enough? I'm using a different vet practice to the previous one I've used so I'm used to being prescribed dog metacam and I'm fairly sure it was to use twice daily. I just don't want her in pain overnight whilst she's waiting for the next dose! Thanks in advance 🙏

I think dog metacam is x3 stronger. So that would be the equivalent of 0.2ml once a day of dog metacam which is small.

Hi

This is a reasonable dosage for any moderate pain - which is what a biopsy and scrapes come under, as I can attest from personal experience.

Please keep all questions to your own ongoing support thread about the same guinea pig and case in one place. You will get better answers without having to explain the whole story all the time. It also helps us to keep track better since we are all doing this for free in our own free time.
