Malocclusion

Hello, we saw Simon and they did a great job with shadow he has another appointment a 3 week check up on the 1st and he had dental work done. Simon said the other vet chipped his teeth instead of filing so he was left with cuts and sores bless him :( so glad we went to Simon. They’ll be able to tell us more at the next appointment I’m hoping it goes well. He did say he has seen worse cases and Shadow should be okay. He’s eating much better since so I’m pleased just hope it remains positive news.

Simon is amazing! Hope Shadow does well now, you will probably find out if you will need any maintenance treatments, if so hope they are long intervals x At least you would only pay for the dental and nothing else

Oh my goodness that is such good news and how well you've done getting him through to this point! I've been thinking so much about the little guy and he must be so happy to be able to eat better already. And the stress on you has been terrific... I hope you can relax a bit now. Thanks for keeping us updated ☺️

Thank you so much for keeping shadow in your thoughts and being here through this I appreciate it so much! You’ve been an amazing help and support. He’s eating veggies so much better it’s just he’s still needing the syringe as he can’t fully eat his foods but will sometimes have it mashed in a bowl, can this be normal for a long time period? I did read somewhere it can take a while. Also Simon mentioned about vitamin C besides the drops as I’ve heard those aren’t always so good is there other things I can use that are good? Thank you. Xx

If his mouth is still sore he might be still a bit off it. Once his mouth has settled he will start gaining confidence to try eating properly. Once that has been built up he will start attempting to eat hay too.
I don’t give vit C so can’t advice you there
So glad he is doing better, it’s fine to give him support food, weigh everyday to see if he is eating enough and then trey to cut down a little each day if he is maintaining his weight x

We've given vit C before when a piggy was being long-term syringed. The vet told me how much - unfortunately I've forgotten - but we bought cheap one-a-day people vit C tablets and cut them up with a knife, crushed a portion and mixed it in with the syringe food. It's about 1/10 of a tablet per day though - very little. And they warned us not to get one of the super high strength fizzy things for obvious reasons! Perhaps drop your vet a mail to see if they can advise at least as to the mg per day you should aim for?
