Making the right decision!

If you get a C&C I'd say go 2 grids high, plus a lid obviously as you have cats. 2 grids high stops small kids peering in from above and looming over the piggies like eagles! And plenty of cable ties so if a small child loosens a grid it can't pull free :)

Here is Jezzy floof modelling a 2-grid high C&C cage20190208_185242.webp, note the 2 cable ties discreetly holding each panel join (except we have 1 removable grid panel at the top left here without cable ties to allow feeding and cage cleans and piggy capture) :)
This is child proof (4 year old demon child with ADHD) but not cat proof!

With cats I would probably recommend the 160 cage as it will be more secure.

Ok I did wonder. Only reason to prefer the c&c was that I liked the loft. Also that it looks easier to access. But none of that matters if the cats eat Nina's pets!

She's decided on Daisy and Partridge for their names plus one as yet to come .

Yes I've no experience of cats, so I couldnt say if the C&C lids are cat proof. A 160 Ferplast would be more robust, just less adaptable if you get "the piggy bug" and end up adopting lots!

Wow that's great thank you. I reckon I'm back on the 160 one now. Seems like the best option for me!

I’ve never had outdoor guinea pigs. But my previous pigs were kept in a spare bedroom upstairs. I found that during the week I mainly just went in to feed and clean them out. I loved them but found them a bit boring because I never spent much time in the spare room apart from at the weekends (evil guinea pig owner!).

But the two I have now are in a C&C cage in the living room. It’s made such a difference to how much I enjoy them. I talk to them every time I walk past and they shout at me if they think I’m going anywhere near the fridge. They are like my little pals - and are much tamer than my other pigs were. I think because they are in the thick of it and are much more used to human contact.

Perfect. I've made them a nice space and will order the cage soon. We're going to get it all set up for them before we go on holiday so we can get the guinea pigs on our return. 😃
