Lunkarya's

I understand that Lunkarya have 'extremely' dense coats. What sort of special care do Lunkarya coats need?

No you don't actually need to groom them alot.
Apparently it's best to keep them naturally, tangle-free and 'not brushed out'
Due to the harshness of the coat, they tend to not get matts

Less is more with this breed! ... apparently XD

Do you mean like dreadlocks? Or am I getting confused?

It's best to finger groom them rather than brush or you could use a very wide toothed comb but I find it easier to go through with fingers. The main problem is the accumulation of food/hay in their coats, they seem to pick up an awful lot of stuff so I regularly pick through and try to remove as much as possible! I also trim bums and the bits at the sides. Once you get practiced you can go quite short on the bum but have a bit from further up hanging down a bit so it doesn't look so drastic but still keeps them comfortable. They can get a bit hot in summer so I trim a bit shorter all over then so they don't overheat. I have 4 lunks at the moment.

Ugh! :hb::hb:
Sadly I'm no longer getting my Lunkarya's
I can't believe this has happened to me AGAIN!
Yet another 'breeder' has pull out! :(
I was getting one before but the breeder never showed up & now this breeder "forgot" to mention that they could be pregnant.. As apparently they'd been in with a boar for 4 weeks.. O__o
And then didn't want to sell them too me for fear they'd be too stressed whilst travelling
But then said I could have them after they've had their litter! - So I just said no. :td:
It all sounded too weird.

I'm just never going to get any :no:

Oh dear. I assumed as you were getting 2 sows and a boar that the boar was neutered if he lived with the sows.
As we are a pro rescue forum have you considered adopting instead? Breeds are not important in terms of making great pets and there are many piggies sat in rescue waiting for a good home.

This is what I thought!
That's how she advertised them :td:
So unless she's purposely put them in with another boar I don't know.
I've got lots of Guinea, I rescue ones all the time :p I picked up a gorgeous boar yesterday from a family who's daughter had got bored of him!
I've just always wanted some Lunkarya's & have never been able to find any rescue ones. But when I do find some there always with breeders & for some reason I always get bumped off.. I just don't get it!
It's like they've gone "oh actually, I want to keep them after all"
Happened to me twice now

Well hello handsome! :love::love::love:

You don't need to be a Lunky to be drop dead gorgeous. :drool::drool::drool:

I'm glad you've been able to give this beautiful boar a forever home.

He is a real stunner. Sounds like you had a lucky escape with the Lunky's, hopefully your dream piggies will turn up very soon.
