lump on guinea pigs neck....
hello everyone...Please give me some advice...I came home from work today and our little black guinea pig "willow" has a lump the size of a golf ball under her chin. It is hard but has grown rapidly as I did not even notice it until tonight after work and I always see her. We dont have an exotic small pet vet here but we have one that treats cats and dogs who have said I can bring her in tomorrow so she can have a look at her until we can get time off work to travel to the exotic small pet vet (2.5 hours away)
She said it could be an absess or a tumor...has anyone had this with there guinea pigs and had successful treatments?
She is only 2 years old...does not seem to be in any pain (she lets us touch the lump) She is eating and drinking as normal but I dont know what to do..it is so big and sticks out....please give me some good news, is our little darling going to be okay..is this common for guinea pigs and is it life threatening?
I hope all your guinea pigs are happy and healthy

Hi sorry to hear about little Willow :(
I've dealt with abscess' before one of our boys had them (quite a few times!) they can be successfully lanced or cut out and then it's antibiotics, pain relief and lots of TLC.

You might find the info in this thread helpful and you could take the information to your vets. He could always consult with another vet.
