Looking for Some Advice / Previous Experience of Fast Growing Tumour and Treatment Outcomes

Has the little man come home yet 🤞
Collected Ginger (and Dora) at 6.50 and then found they had closed the road that I use to get home at 7pm. Just got back.

Ginger has eaten some veggies and a little hay and seems to be doing well. The incision is quite long. They have injected the site with local anesthetic which should last 24 hours. I have to start Metacam again in the morning as he had a dose this afternoon.

What a pain! Aah so pleased they’re both home and Ginger is tucking in, hope he keeps up that scoffing! :luv: Hope you all have a good night :) xx

Ginger isn't moving around very much, so I just topped him up with critical care before I go to bed. I started with the syringe but he actually ate it from a spoon. When I left him he was munching hay which was good. He seems a little drowsy which I assume is the after effects of the anaesthesia.

Thanks for all the good wishes for Ginger. It's hard taking him for a big surgery when he is so happy at the moment.

HUGS!
Just heard from the vet. Ginger has come through the surgery well and is in recovery at the moment. The surgery was more complicated than expected as the lump on his back was 'just the tip of the iceberg'. The tumour had already spread and had two buds further inside his body. These have been removed but not with as much margin as the vet would have liked. All we can do now is wait and see, our vet has done his best and we have given Ginger the best chance that we can to have a longer life.

I can pick him up today if he is eating on his own, although i am all prepared for syringe feeding him if needed.

Thanks to everyone for all your support. I will keep this thread updated with Ginger's progress.

HUGS and fingers firmly crossed for Ginger!

Aw so good to see Ginger and Dora are back home and Ginger munching away, that’s lovely to see. Hope he continues to do well today 🤞

Hope that Ginger has had a good night and is causing you less concern today, Yvonne.

Ginger is eating and pooing OK but his stomach is swollen just on one side. It is soft and doesn't seem to be bothering him. I spoke with the vet nurse and she seems to think it is probably some sub-cutaneous fluid that they gave him that hasn't been absorbed yet. I'm working from home today so i can keep a close eye on him and check for any deterioration.

i hope Ginger is making progress. He has many happy days ahead.hugs to you Yvonne.xx
Thanks Eileen. Ginger is recovering from his op, his incision is healing well and he is eating by himself (although I'm offering him a little critical care in a bowl twice a day). He still isn't moving around as much as usual but the arthritis doesn't help as he stiffens up when he is still for too long.

We shall make sure that he has happy piggy days for as long as he enjoying life.

Great to hear the incision is healing well. My skinny Jellybaby slowed down after his tumour surgery too. He does have spurts of energy, at veggie time and usually when no one is watching (except the piggie camera) but he does like to snuggle up in his hidey more. Wishing Ginger many happy piggy days x

Sending Ginger lots of love and healing vibes, so glad he’s been doing so well :luv:
Get that little bum moving a bit though gorgeous boy! xx

A little update on Ginger Pig. Two weeks post surgery he is healing really well. Currently he is a happy piggy and eating and moving around as usual, the arthritis in his legs is much improved with the Metacam and 4Joints. We will continue to spoil him and hope he has many more days and months with us.
