glad the little girl has eaten, sounds like your friend wasn't being very caring for her babies if she only left you dry food and nothing else. so glad you remembered the grass and that she has had something to eat. am hoping she takes good care of your babies when you go away. i would perhaps leave a report of what her piggies have been doing and what you did for them. so that she knows you did your best for them both. hoping she continues to improve, sending hugs and prayers your way :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: and the girls send :-* :-* :-* hoping you had a great easter(it is monday here 6.22am) and i think you are doing a wonderful job. :smitten:

Thanks so much :)
I think she is eating some hay when she is in her cage otherwise I think she would have really deteriated by now, so it is looking up.

Hi, I was just wondering where I can get a needleless syringe to give fudge water and crushed pellets.
Do supermarkets sell them? Would the vet give me one without taking her up there? My parents say that I cant really take her to the vets until my friend answers her phone and besides I dont think she is particularly ill anymore, I just want to give her a bit extra water just incase

You can get them from practically everywhere but depends where you are :) Vets will most likely give you one O0

Thanks I'll go down there on Tuesday
Bloomin' Bank holiday weekend ::) My heating broek on Friday and we cant get anyone to fix it until Tuesday either
I'm freezing and it cant be doing the animals much good either, although at least they've got furry coats and hay :(

Oh no ~ Hope it gets sorted soon love O0 I'm sure piggies will be ok tucked up in their hay too :D
All the shops were shut today except MCDONALDS :o i was like ' what ?' its only easter ;D

My friend still ahsnt answered any of my texts, so I called both the Youth Hostels I thought they were staying at and they both said theres no record of them 98) So we called the emergency vets because she's not taking any type of food and water. They are miles away and said it would just stress her to take her and gave us lots of tips. None of them have worked so we are going to make an appointment first thing tommorow at our normal vets and just really hope. I'm going down to Tesco's in a minute and I'll ask if they have any syringes at the pharmacy there but I doubt they'll give any to us :-\

Thats odd about your friend. A pharmacy should give you a syringe its an empty one anyway. Just explain why you want it should be ok. I got some from PP just incase I need them. :)

Thanks I think we must have got the youth hostels wrong, and she might not have got the texts and calls because she's in the lake district and there might not be reception :-\
Thanks for your help :)

Just to keep you updated-we got a syringe from Tesco and she'd had about a syringe-full of water which is good, I tried to syringe-feed her the pellet mash too but it just took up the water and not the ground pellets. Hopefully she'll survive until tommorow when we can get her to the vet, hay and water should be enough to keep her going, right?
Fingers crossed O0

really hoping she makes it for you, :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: you have done all you can for her. when i syringe feed zoe the pellets and water all i get is green coloured water too. :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: sending you hugs and prayers :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: keep her warm and keep giving her water and pellets mash, will she take grass again? will be thinking of you and hoping all goes well. girls send :-* :-* :-*

Thanks, she didnt take the grass this mornng, I put it in front of her and I saw her nibbling but I think it was the hay underneath
Also, we found out that her mother has a maiden name that she uses and she might have booked th family into the Youth Hostel using that name so when my sister gets off the phone I'll call the hostels again
Thanks, Rachel

good luck with it, hoping you find her or get the poor piggy to the vet. do you think it might be change of environment or people that has upset her? like you i am clutching at straws. again hope all goes well. going to have a cat nap soon as it is 2302pm monday night, hope to wake with things sorted. hugs and cuddles :smitten: :smitten: :-* :-*

Thanks, sorry to keep you awake! I think it was the stress, not helped by putting the cage unsupported on the back seat of the car on their way here, with them still in it! I'm going to be giving the owners a VERY stern word when they finally contact me :tickedoff: I would never even think of taking an 8 year old piggie half way across hertfordshire, she should have got a neighbour to look after them! I only agreed because she's looking after mine!
Sorry rant over 98)

hey not a problem, me and OH NEVER go away as we couldn't bear to leave our pets but that is just us. you are worried about this poor piggy and this makes you a wonderful caring person so DON'T ever apologise for that! :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: you are so lucky i am in oz and your friend somewhere in the UK, if i went anywhere i would leave phone numbers to be reached, instructions for their up keeping, in fact i'd most probably go over board, your not keeping me awake, watching the aussie swimming trials for the olympic games. hoping she takes as good as care of yours as you are of hers. hugs and cuddles and you are a true animal lover and a good friend! :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Thanks so much :)
My parents think I've gone a bit overboard I'm leaving all our mobile numbers, the vets numbers, and the hotel and my Grandma's number both of which we'll be staying in 98)
But I suppose you cant be too careful :D

I'm very, very, very sorry to say that at about quarter to six I opened her cage to give her some more water, picked her up and found that she was still breathing but had gone very limp. I put her back in her cage to call her parents and she keeled over. We put her in a shoe box with hay as it was obvious she wast going to make it. We called her and luckily her parents answered and they are going to tell her tommorow. Unfortunately I just checked and am 99% sure that she is gone :'( Thank you so much for all your help, you've all been a big comfort all weekend and have really helped me. Obviously Cindy is quite distressed so I am quickly disenfecting their cage to move her swiftly into it.
RIP Fudge 0:)

i am so sorry, this isn't what i wanted to wake up too! :'( :'( :'( you did all you could, hoping she went peacefully! RIP sweet fudge, you grand old lady! have fun, run free and popcorn in paradise. 0:) 0:) 0:) :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: may you find eternal peace sweetie :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: wish we could have helped more. sending you hugs and cuddles :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: and i am sorry for vicky that she wasn't there to say goodbye to fudge :'( :'( :'( again am truly sorry that this has happened. RIP dear fudge! 0:) 0:) :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: so much loved and so sorely missed. :-* :-* :-* wish i could wrap you in a big hug! you take care and know you did all you could! :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: and a big hug and cuddles for cindy! will you be laying fudge to rest or wait till vicky comes home? hugs and cuddles. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Thanks I know you wanted to wake up with her better
I feel so sorry for my friend-last time her guinea pig died she got hysterical and she'd only known it for about a week
I just wish had ended differently but I know she was old and it was probably for the best
They are not getting back for 5 days so I'm a bit worried about Cindy(sorry forgot to say in my last post she was Fudges cagemate
If her family agrees we might take Cindy to the vet tommorow for a quick check because we think she might have a sniffle
Thanks again for all your help

Hopefully your friend will understand that she was old and had a long life. Keep us posted on how Cindy is. :smitten:

I expect she's fine I'm really paranoid now
Obviously she'll get lots of cuddles and kisses over the next few days :smitten:
