hi stupid question here do other forum members who have longhared and shorthaired guinea pigs find that there longhaired guinea pigs are more moody i have 2 longhaired girls and they are a lot more tempermental ?/

My experience is totally the opposite, my Shelties/Peruvians are soooo chilled out and are far more friendly than my short haired piggies.

Yeah long haired breeds tend to be more laid back. Bee-Bop Mutton Chops and Melonie Chin are long haired, but since theyre 1 and Bubbleberry is 7(i think) i would say theyre about the same, if that makes sense inbreeding

Rocky (coronet) is hysterical and eccentric.

Nigel (Peruvian) is a bit of a diva and very highly strung.

So, in my experience, the longer the hair, the more temperamental the pig!

From my experience, I have found the Coronets and Shelties to be pretty placid but the Peruvians a bit highly strung and lively. Abby's very lively and hard to handle.

Most piggies are lively when young and then they settle down but I guess it varies from pig to pig as no two are alike!

Of my lot I have one longhaired, and one semi-longhaired. One of these girls (Gwen, semi-long) is deaf so is in a world of her own anyway. But my coronet, Tuppy...temperamental, moody, sulky - can we just say "high maintenance"?

She is my Pig With Attitude, and is also the Evil Eye pig right into the bargain...

Ive only had my short haired piggy 2 days and so far he is easier to catch but isnt very interested in spending time on my lap and doesnt as yet eat from my hand but that could be because he is the newbie. ill let you know in a few weeks.

Well,
i have a short haired who loves cuddles
an abby who hates being picked up but loves it once you've got her and loves being stroked
a sheltie who's a bit of both, depends on her mood to whether you can pick her up, but shes very quiet
an aberuvian who's hard to get, she hates being stroked in the cage but once you've got her, she just gazes at you and loves being in your arms!

ive had long haired and short haired- all breeds really!

I find my long haired piggies are the most chilled out pigs ever! lay out with legs sprawlled whereever, and no jumpy at all!
