Hello All
Sorry that I haven't posted any updates on Kitkat the only surviving Orphan from the emergency caesarian but work has benn manic. Well............... Kitkat is doing well although she is still small, two litters from another two sows followed her, one with 5 (2 stillborn) the week after Kitkat then 4 two weeks later. Kitkat is the same size as youngets litter who are now two weeks old, but shes doing well.
BUT we have a problem with lice, no idea where it came from but we have lice. Mavis who 'adopted' Kitkat has been treated for lice with Johnsons shampoo, the babies are now weaned, my other sow has a bad case of cystitis so her babies had to be taken from her at ten days but are doing well. She has been treated for lice. What do i do with the littleuns and their lice? Is there anything i can use at such a young age? Kitkat at 4 weeks (yes she is a month old!), another 3 at three weeks and 4 at 2 weeks old? Most stuff seems to say i can only use it after they are 12 weeks?
Any help much appreciated
And yes yes I MUST post pics of the 8 littleuns, would have been 14 littleuns if they had all made it!!
Phil

Really glad the survivors are doing so well. I don't know what to suggest. You could call your vet and see if they have anything? Look forward to pics x

If you go to www.gorgeousuineas.com there is a treatment on their for lice. There are other recent posts about treating lice which might help you. Good luck and glad Kitkat is doing well :)

ive had the same problem , chrissie at gorgeous guineas advised microneem which you can buy from gorgeous guineas O0 :)

I don't think Chrissie advises using GG Lice and easy for under 12 weeks? If I were you I'd email her and ask her advice, [email protected]. They are treatable though, I had 2 guineas aged 4/5 weeks with lice & got rid of them with Chrissies help :)
