Likely abscess - off to the vets

As always with piggies she's picked pants timing with really bad news in the family, as well as needing to spend next week ferrying my daughter to her settling in sessions at nursery and ferrying the hubby to Derby for minor surgery on his hand. Pass the vodka please!

Hugs xx. You certainly have plenty on your plate. Hope Daisy is ok x

Sending big hugs Kelly. Sorry that you are having such a difficult time a the moment. Hope your hubbies op goes well.

Fingers crossed that Daisy will continue to improve. xx

I have a daughter called Jessica. Hope yours enjoys nursery. They grow up so fast.

So it gets more and more confusing. Daisy has lost the weight she had regained after the pain meds stopped which indicates she is in pain. I phoned the vets for advice but they are reluctant to prescribe more pain relief without rechecking her weight (makes sense) and discussing next steps. Last night while she was out I offered some porridge oats and she ate loads. She then did 4 poops and they were perfectly normal for her in size and colour etc. This indicates she is eating a fair amount but maybe just not quite enough.

I'm stepping in with syringing mushed pellets and some porridge oats and will aim to do this several times a day to see if I can bulk her up a bit. Luckily hubby is off work next week so although Jessica has her nursery settling in sessions and I have to take hubby to Derby for minor surgery on his hand it should be easier to get her to the vet without having to load and unload baby in the car too. Doggo was at the vet today with what they believe is just a touch of a stomach bug. I'm still very worried about next steps in terms of Daisy's age

I hate these mystery issues. It would be so much easier if she could speak and tell you what is going on. Definitely agree with you that it sounds like there is pain somewhere, but heaven only knows where. I think your plan is exactly what I would do, too.

I always think the lump is going down but then feel it and it doesn't feel different. Don't know if it's small size and location making it impossible for me to measure means that I'm just getting used to seeing it. I plan to give her til Monday morning at the moment, even a small weight loss in that time then I'll get her booked for Monday afternoon as we're at nursery in the morning. I think maybe an x-ray next to check whether the lump on her face is tooth related and depending on the outcome of that to then scan her abdomen to check the cysts. I'm not convinced at her current weight that she would survive surgery but willing to be led by the vet on that as she's very fiesty still and clearly nothing wrong with her appetite either

Fingers crossed they will find out what's going on.

Oh Kelly and course Daisy , , we thats me and piggies send you both lots good vibes etc,
Big hugs all round guys, x

Beautiful Daisy.
Hope she makes a full recovery now without too much stress for you.

Hope all goes well for your husband’s hand op next week.

It's so wonderful when they suddenly get their appetite back isn't it?

That's the thing, she hasn't lost her appetite at all so the weight loss is most odd. No difficulty eating. I think I'm going to have to book her some tests this week

I do hope that you can get to the bottom of what is wrong with Daisy. Sending healing vibes.♥️🐾

Hubby thinks vet should just give pain relief to keep her ticking over until she's ready to go but I feel the need to know more about what we are facing. Syringe feeding for months on end isn't doable. We don't know her age just know she's over 6.5 years old. I have decided that Monday morning I will call and ask for a telephone consult in the afternoon (settling in session at nursery in the morning). I think next step will be x-ray and ultrasound so would rather discuss on phone and hopefully take her in Wednesday for that

This is breaking my heart but last night was so positive. Her weight was back over 700g and I really thought we were turning the corner. Now I am sat in the emergency vets car park waiting for them to take her to PTS. I went to get her this morning and she was hardly moving, she can walk but doesn't want to and her mouth and chin was soaking. It was all bubbly too. I offered a little bit of syringe feed but she wasn't interested and the tiny bit she accepted has come out of her nose or mouth again so I am assuming she can't swallow. I think I will forever question whether I made her aspirate yesterday during feeding but she took it so willingly that I don't think I did. We had a cuddle and our goodbyes at home, just wish I could go in with her 💔

You know what you are doing Kelly and you wouldn't have made her aspirate. Dennis was like Daisy the day before he passed over to the Rainbow Bridge and in the morning he looked really tired, felt cold and couldn't swallow. You have given Daisy the best life, but sometimes even the best care is not enough and the call of the Rainbow Bridge is just so strong they have to go. Hugs to you :hug::hug::love::love:

I’m so sorry, don’t think for a moment you might have caused her to aspirate, you did everything you possibly could for little Daisy, it’s always very sad when you realise you can do no more, sending hugs x

Oh Kelly, please don’t for one moment think that you’ve caused her to aspirate. We know that piggies can suddenly go downhill despite our best efforts. Huge hugs to you xxxxx

She's gone. I'm in shock at what the vet thought was going on. Will post more later

So sorry Kelly. Just take your time. Sleep tight little Daisy xx

I'm so sorry to hear this news about Daisy. You have given her the best life and best care, 6.5 is a good age. Sending hugs xx
Sleep tight little Daisy

Oh Kelly ...my heart goes out to you .
