hey i was wondering if guineas are allowed to eat leaves. becaause the other day gilbert was in my yard and there were some leaves on the ground and he ATE THEM. they were crunchy leaves. i tried pulling some out before he ate the whole thingmallethead gilbert hasn't had any problems and i think its been about 2 days. just wondering if it's safe though, so i can be prepared for the next time it happens..

I have noticed that my guinea pigs LOVED eating dried leaves whenever they were out romping through my garden.
If you happen to have ornamental grasses, rose leaves, crocosmia and some tree leaves, giving them the odd dry leaf won't hurt and will make them happy.

If it's been two days and he is fine, then he probably just picked up a healthy, tasty treat!

I am always super- cautious about wild foods (including leaves) unless it's been picked by someone else. I don't trust myself enough to recognise what is safe and what is not, in terms of wild plants and flowers. Just one of my quirks. rolleyes

Our pigs particular enjoyed some dandelions and bamboo today :D I've spotted some rosemary for tomorrow hehe
