I can't believe this, my other piggie is now breathing audibly and seems to have a click to him, like Kurt did the first time round. Can piggies catch bacterial infections from eachother?

Yes, unfortunately they can - you will need to hurry to the vet again.

He didn't make it. The vet did some analysis of the fluid and it was full of bacteria and blood, so she thinks it was a very serious bacterial infection. It doesn't look like he stood much of a chance no matter how strong he fought.
I'm relieved he's now at peace.
