Before considering castration please read articles about the risk. I`m informed mortality rates are high especially when the op is performed by new or inexperienced vets.
Also, GP`s are more delicate than cats and dogs.
I have an over sexed boar of 4 months old who always wants to mate with the sows in the next run (and otherr males next door).
He used to try to mount males and it always causes nasty fights so randy males they are best placed alone. He is over sexed but he will settle down in a year when his hormones change. I`ll try him with other males to see how they get along in a year or so.
I would never have him castrated because I think the risk to his life is not worth it.
He lives alone for the time being but he gets near to other GP`s when I place his cage near. He also gets near them in the segregated run. He is churpy and eating well, I`m sure hes not lonely with this set up.
