This would be great for a newbie to c&c :)
I don't have a clue where to start building an indoor set up, I hope to move somewhere that will enable me to have my boys living inside the house during the cold winter months so any c&c tips and info would be a great to have
Kell.
@maxdawn is so helpful....p.s I got my large carpet tile today to fix my ramp issue thanks to you :)
That's great. I was going to pm you. I was thinking if you use as hard as nail. Make double sure that the carpet is cut to the right size. Lay the pieces of carpet on ramp before glueing. And make sure you are happy with how it looks and fits. Because once its glued you aren't going to move it.

This thing (the islice). http://www.lakeland.co.uk/21760/iSlice Don't be fooled by its size. I use it to cut through very thick cardboard boxes (much thicker than amazon boxes for example) - although I do have to score a couple of times to get right through.
I couldn't see the blade on the photo. Have you use this before? Did it cut a nice clean edge?

The blade is tiny. It protrudes about 1-2mm only. Have just turned all lights off after much exaggerated sighing from OH who is trying to sleep so can't photo our one now but will try tomorrow.

The cut is very clean but is a sheet of correx made up in the same way as corrugated cardboard (2 flat sheets with a wavy layer sandwiched in between)? If so then it might not be perfect to use to cut it depending on overall thickness of the correx. I have to say I don't understand whether a piece of correx described as 2mm correx is actually 2 mm thick in total or more.

On corrugated cardboard it struggles (to give a clean cut) a little with the wavy layer but I haven't been laying the cardboard down on a flat surface nor using a straight edge to cut against which might help.

I have used one of those slice things on paper and they are really quick and easy. I think it could work well with the correx.

Yes corrugated card is corrugated the same way as correx. As you say if your cutting against the wavy layer, The need to cut the top 2 layer for it to be a nice clean fold.. First you cut the smooth top layer then very SLIGHTLY bend correx to see the wavy layer. As you are blending, run knife along the wavey layer. DONT PUT PRESSURE ON KNIFE . You are just gently running knife along waves to cut them. Too much pressure and you will cut all the way though bottom layer. You have now cut the top 2 layers of correx. This gives you a nice clean fold..
When you are cutting with the gram, or as you say with the waves. You only cut the 1 top layer.
P.S card and paper blunt knives and scissors so quickly. I need use my best knives or scissors to cut card/paper. Hope this make sense I tried to post last night be my Internet was playing up. Sorry

That looks amazing and such a bargain! I better not show this to the OH, he'll go mad if he knew he could have saved £100! Well done! I look forward to reading your guide.

I know, the cage and stand I got last year was £160

Wow this is fab. what did you make the bottom out of?
My piggies need a bigger cage but I don't know where to start. I did buy some of the playpen stuff you have around the edge to keep them in.
Can anyone advise me as to what to use for the base?
Many thanks.

I don't know what the playpen stuff is, sorry. I just used c&c grids, correx

I didn't even know what corex was.
I'm looking into it but now have no idea what size to buy.
You need to work out what size the cage will be, if your having a loft and how high you would like the sides to be

This is our islice for sake of completeness. The blade is that tiny white bit sticking out at bottom right of it.

My correx arrived today (@Lorraine see my earlier post to get an idea of price - that price was for 3 sheets of 2mm black correx. Each sheet 1.2m x 2.4m) and I'm fairly confident looking at it that this islice will do the job.
