Jasmine slowly losing weight

So pleased to hear Jasmine is tucking into the Emeraid. It must taste delicious, as all the piggies in this house love Emeraid. If there’s any left over after feeding an “invalid” I can always find a willing recipient to polish it off. And they always try to clean it off each other’s whiskers, too.

Me: "You've got some on your nose."

Well, today is the big day! My OH has just left with Jasmine for the vets to have her spay. Since the end of April, Jasmine has remained ~900g. No gain, but no real loss either. I didn't syringe feed any Emeraid to her in the end, but she was happily eating away at it by herself when I left her a bowl of the stuff; she must've got through 2-3 scoops every 24 hours.

Not sure how I'm feeling, to be honest. I've been working 7 days straight since Monday, so I'm pretty tired and a bit more stressed more than I'd usually be at this point in the week. @VickiA's words to expect it to go well certainly helped and I'm not as nervous as I would've been! :)

Please wish Jasmine good vibes!

Hope everything goes really well for Jasmine today and ewshing her a very speedy recovery x

Massive hugs to you and Jasmine and loads of healing vibes from me and the piglets! Sure everything will go great and she’ll be back home later scoffing her emeraid with her lovely mum! :hug:x

Just got an update from the vet. Jasmine's spay was successful and they're keeping her in overnight for observation. I don't know whether that's routine or whether she's not doing as well as they'd like. Either way, I feel better knowing she's in the best possible place right now. I'm still super nervous as Pickle came through her surgery too, but passed away the following day. At least I can be reassured this vet knows the amount of pain relief a guinea pig needs!

I’m so glad she’s come through the op and she’s ok :hug:Sure she’s doing great, try not to worry too much (I know it’s far easier said than done!). Glad your vet knows what they’re doing, sure she’s in great hands :) x

Just caught up with this.
So please that gorgeous Jasmine has come through her spay ok.
While Priscilla was recovering from her spay I put a little ramekin dish of grated carrot or sweet potato with oats in the cage as well as one with some Critical Care with mashed banana in just to help her gain weight. She was eating for herself within a couple of days.

Hope Jasmine makes a speedy recovery now

Good to hear everything has gone according to plan. Hope she’s soon back home with you again xx

I’m glad to hear everything went well. Here’s to her continued recovery ☺️

Another vet update this morning. Jasmine's been a bit quiet overnight and not eating much, but is eating and piddling normally. The vet is going to see how she goes during the course of today before deciding whether she can be discharged. I'm glad she's in the right place!

Another update. Jasmine isn't eating by herself yet, but she's being syringe fed, still passing poops normally and is making the right gut sounds. She's a picky eater anyway and they'll try her with some foods I've suggested to tempt her appetite.

The vet wondered if she might be more likely to eat at home, but she's a surprisingly confident piggy and settles quickly, so I think she'd be best off at the surgery still. The vet said it may be too soon after surgery anyway; it's just a bit disappointing she hasn't started by herself yet.

Hope Jasmine picks up very soon and you can have her home safe and well. You must be so worried after the previous spay op.

I hope Jasmine starts to eat for herself soon, such a worrying time for you. I‘ll keep my fingers crossed for a swift recovery and that she can come home soon.

Come on you gorgeous girl, get scoffing for your lovely mum!
(Sorry I read that wrong and thought she was eating herself ) Hope she takes an interest in her favourite grub and is munching later, it’s great she’s peeing and pooping normally. Try not to worry too much x

Come on little Jasmine keep munching.x
One of my piggies took a few days to really start eating properly after his surgery.
So fingers crossed Jasmine has a speedy recovery and munching little a little monster soon.xx.

Send lots of healing vibes for little Jasmine x
Hope she’s home very soon and eating well too 🤞
