Welcome to the forum. Cost varies significantly depending on your local veterinary service. You have to pay the consultation fee, which averages around £20, and the injections themselves rarely cost more than a few pounds.

Topical or oral ivermectin is a similarly effective alternative.

Hi

I see you are in America so prices could be vastly different to when we pay over here.

Injection is normally only needed if its a really bad infestation.

Oral or Topical are good enough for small infestations.

Just remember that there are two different types of Ivomec, one for Injections/Oral and one for Topical.

I also suspect that they treat different types of mite depending on the method used.

Injection/Oral is for Mites that feed on the blood

Topical is for Mites that feed on the skin cells.

That might well be a good case for using both methods. although personally I prefer to use Ivomec Orally and to use a Mite shampoo for the topical treatment

update: i took my lil piggy 2 the vet.

well he had mange mite. the vet gave him a shot of ivomec and revolution to take home. My vet bill was $140.00. it was a very descent price, not too expensive. I'm glad he is going to be ok. :) Thank you Paul, Jeanette & Laura.

Good to hear your piggie is on the mend Laurie, he's on the right treatment for mites so hopefully he'll be feeling less itchy soon!

Are you sure it was $140? That does seem very expensive when converted at the current exchange rate to £91 GBP.

I always buy the drops from local pet shops, 3 out of 5 or mine are being ivermec'ed as the other two are toooo small. But administering pipettes yourself is easy and cheaper than vets.
