So, I'm currently drinking some tea that I boiled from some dates and ginseng (all organic and washed); and I noticed that my guinea pig Butter is very interested in the tea to the point where he tried to lick the cup. From what I read online it is okay for guinea pigs to have some ginseng since it helps with egg/sperm quality (Panax ginseng improves survival and sperm quality in guinea pigs exposed to 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo- p-dioxin - PubMed), but I don't want to risk Butter getting an upset stomach, so I came here to ask... right now Butter is looking betrayed since I took my cup from the ground... If I can give him the tea it will be cooled and room temperature and no more than a teaspoon.

Hi!

Personally, I would not give it; at least not any more than he can lick from your finger. Guinea pigs love exploring new tastes and flavours but dates are far too sugary for piggies.
