Can anybody confirm the dose of infacol please. Finny is having it at the moment, He weighs in at 1800g, I've confirmed the dose with the vet at 1.5ml 3 x a day. It just seems rather a lot. He is also having cisapride and ranatadine. Thanks.

Are you alternating the Zantac and Cisapride also e.g. one one hour one the next.... We gave our gut stims at different time to try for better coverage with our 'bloat' piggy Treacle.

Will try and find some info on the infacol for you, I have only used it once on advice of vet and I am sure the dose was lower than that

My sow had bloat due to a slow gut caused by ovarian cysts. I used metocloprimide (for acid reflux but stimulates gut movement just like cisapride), zantac (ranitidine) and woodwards gripe water to break down the gas. I would use the gripe water instead of infacol, as its better at enabling the piggy to pass the gas rather than make it collect in bubbles as @Abi_nurse said above. U can buy it in the baby section of most pharmacies and supermarkets.

My vet recommended to give my about 800g piggy dentinox (which is the same as infacol only that it is for human babies) at about 0.5 ml 3 times a day, so your vet is at the higher end of the scale, but still on it for a big'un like yours.

i *think* eddie was recommended 1ml 3x a day when our vet advised it for him. he weighed less than that so the dose could well be right. i'll see if i can find the info and post again :)

i said this on your other thread but if the vet has said it's a gassy/frothy bloat type gas, then infacol is perfectly safe to use and works by popping the bubbles rather than forming them :)

eta: the one time i didn't write the dose down :mal: it was either 0.5ml 3x day or 1ml 3x day. i've had others on it at some point (piggies and rabbits) so i get the doses mixed up sometimes if i haven't written it down! :mal:
