In A Flap About Fleece

I wash my fleece regularly at high temperatures, don't overfill the load and don't have any more problems than I had before I switched to fleece!

In fact, I am not at all happy about said article - it is not balanced at all and does not weigh up the considerable advantages of fleece against the disadvantages; thusly serving only to unnecessarily alarm and confuse especially new owners. It also completely ignores the fact that most owners with fleece also provide a hayloft or other area where piggies can burrow in hay to their hearts content. I simply couldn't have the number of indoors piggies without fleece.

I second this. I could never have my herd indoors without the fleece.

I used to always keep my animals on sawdust. With McMac, while he was inside, it was purely sawdust and then a area at one end of the cage for hay.
I switched to fleece because sawdust was so expensive and caused a real mess, and when I cleaned them out it really hurt my eyes with all the dust.

I remember when I tried having McMac outside for a week or so (This was after just being on fleece for a couple of months). I didn't have any cat litter to help absorb wee and so I used some left over sawdust to line the bottom of the hutch and covered it in hay. Within a day I noticed McMac's eyes had gotten very gunky and he wasn't happy at all. So I got rid of the sawdust and everything and he went back to normal. After that i moved him back inside and put him back onto fleece, he was so happy to have it back.

Since then it has just been fleece and hay in his hay loft, best of both worlds
