I rescued a little girl tonight!

Little no name is getting braver and now can't sit still! Her little nose is always in the air or sniffing my clothes and hands. She will now eat her Batavia lettuce in her hidey but still ignores any other fresh food. Loves her grass and all the fancy hays. I got her carrier all ready for her journey tomorrow morning when I was cleaning her cage this afternoon... feeling a little sad! Id be a useless foster mum lol!

Awwww you have done a great job .... I hope she finds a lovely New home x

Yes, hope she finds a friend and a lovely home. She certainly deserves one. I know how you feel I'd be a hopeless foster parent too. Get way to attached to anything small and fuzzy, especially piggies.xx

You have done an amazing job just getting her out of a horrible situation and making sure she has the best chance of going on to have a perfect life.
You are making the right decision for her Adelle and I really admire you for stepping in when she needed someone the most.
People who foster carry their foster animals with them forever - you aren't giving her up, you are giving her a chance.

Thank you, I really needed to hear that! Felt like I was letting her down as she's come around so much already and I kept thinking she'll just feel passed on again and terrified of yet another new place and new people and noises .. but she'll be happier than she ever was once she has a companion as she's never had one bless her. Just getting her out for a last cuddle for the night x

Good luck to the little one. :tu: She kind of looks like my boy Finn.
Finn and Lara send lots of love, hugs and kisses to both of you.

I hope today isn’t too much of a wrench for you @Adelle as you hand over the little lady with no name to Ayrs rescue.
We're just here now.. She's in the car and I'm having a cigarette to calm myself as we're a little early! I feel very sad but I'm doing the right thing by her and got her out of a mess where she wouldve ended up God knows where.. need to keep telling myself that!

I’m well used to this feeling. Just be hugely proud of your part in rescuing her from an uncertain future. You’ve set her up for the best future. Honestly xx

Little no name joined the permanent oldies resident group of 7 sows just until she gets used to being a piggy and eating fresh food and being handled. Once she's improving she will be paired up with a buddy and be up for rehoming. All the sows where so welcoming and great with her and at that moment I knew I had made the right decision. I will keep in touch to see how she's getting on.. onwards and upwards from here little beauty :luv:

Yesterday a lady posted on a local selling page , a guinea pig free to good home. Dirty cage, the usual. I commented saying there is a guinea pig rescue in Ayr and if they could take her, I would transport. The lady replied "It's gone", like she was a second hand sofa! I left it at that and thought there isn't anything else I can do.

Tonight, the lady who took on the pig messaged me. She said the pig was matted, unhandled and squealing in fear. She asked if I could take her as it wasn't going to work out. So the story unravelled...

She bought a new guinea pig today after taking the free ad one. They didn't get on, she decided she didn't have space for 2 and wanted to get rid of the first one so she could go back to pets at home and buy the new piggies litter mate as they would get on....

I explained this isn't the case and she could end up in the same position, but she said she had a better feeling about it....

I did what i thought was best. I informed her about bonding, the mishaps, the fact there's no guarantees.. their needs and living arrangements... And secured a rescue space for the terrified baby she was wanting to get rid of after 24 hours. I am angry, but I am glad she contacted me after seeing my comment and didn't simply rehome her through another Facebook post.

This little girl is around 6 months old, beautiful but by God is she terrified. She submissive squeals at your presence never mind handling her. The 2nd lady cut off her matts so she is already a little more comfortable .

She's home with me, she's clean and she's fed. I'll be leaving her alone as she's just so scared but have weighed her to make sure she eats. She's in my hospital cage, just a 100 ferplast but she has clean vetbed and a big pile of excellent quality hay which is more than she had before. Luckily she appears healthy.

My little guest will stay till Sunday morning where I'll take her to the rescue in ayr where I know they will do amazing by her! She has always lived alone and I'm happy she's going to knowledgeable people who will bond her with a pal and find her a home.

Here's to new beginnings little one

Poor little one!

My lookalike Gareth (adopted from BARC) is sending you his wheeks on the long road to help her to recovery and learning to enjoy life after the huge trauma she must have been through, poor mite!

Little no name is now called Poppy at the rescue and they sent me this.. She's been popcorning and sharing the veg with the gang.. I nearly cried seeing it ! Hopefully won't be long now where she can be paired up and find a home of her own.. She's never had a companion before and just look how happy she is !

Well done. What a lovely situation for her to be in until her forever home.

I have just caught up with this thread, so pleased it cam to a happy conclusion.... I could have cried at her story :( She is a beautiful girl and you showed her the first bit of love in her life that should make you very proud x x

What an amazing story! She was very lucky to have found you and you should be very proud of yourself. I also rescued my boar Benny from a difficult situation and it's so rewarding seeing the difference in their behaviour and health.
I love an happy ending😍
