Hybrid cars….

My friend came round last night to show me her Yaris Hybrid - the electric/petrol thing makes sense to me now! The car’s always ‘thinking’ The way I’d be driving to stay fully electric, round to mums or to church - @BossHogg you could just walk along side me and stick your hand through the window and grab me! 🤣

Is it illegal to drive while you drink coffee, or eat? Or just not advisable? Or ok as long as you’re careful?

The police can do you for driving without due care and attention as you're not concentrating on the road.
I suppose it feels like you are concentrating, but in reality maybe it takes away a bit. Aye.

We test drove the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6. I was surprised at the instant acceleration and how quiet they are is really scary. An accident waiting to happen when so many pedestrians don't look before they step out into the road, generally because they are looking at their mobile phones or have headphones in (or both). This happens to me all the time when i am cycling to work and i have had one collision, it will have a very different outcome for the pedestrian if they step out in front of an electric car.

I found it strange that you can drive with just one pedal and only really use the brake pedal in an emergency. When driving with one pedal the braking is used to generate electricity and charge the battery. My OH has ordered the EV6 as it has the best range (about 350 miles). We might get it in 9 months time. :(

This is similar to the very first electric vehicle I drove back in 1980 at the tender age of 13. 0-20 in you're havin a laugh and top speed of 25mph. 🤣🤣🤣

In the very distant past when I drove (late 1970s/ early 80s) it was in a 2CV. I got overtaken by one of those on a steep hill.

Probably a 30 cell, they could do 30mph, ours were 24 cell and could only do 25mph. Battery technology has come on in leaps and bounds.

Ah 2cv 6. My father had those. He bought a new one every few years. Economical to run but not the most powerful!

I loved them.
